Page Society Appoints Peter Debreceny as International Vice President

by | Aug 1, 2018

Page, the premiere global professional association for senior corporate communication executives, announced it has named Peter Debreceny as International Vice President.

Page President Roger Bolton said, “Rapid global geopolitical, economic and social changes are dramatically altering the environment in which businesses operate, and in the face of these changes, Page is dedicated to uniting the world’s best communicators to transform business for the better. Page can help chief communication officers (CCOs) prepare their enterprises to succeed in this dynamic environment, but only if we build a truly global network of leaders who can help us find the way. Peter is the ideal leader to take on this critical role.”

Today, Page has 133 international members located in 25 countries outside the U.S. Its expansion in Europe and the Middle East has been led by Björn Edlund, who has chosen to step down after three years as vice president for EMEA; in the Asia Pacific region, Debreceny has been the leader. “I’m grateful for Björn’s leadership in achieving a critical mass of members in EMEA that will allow Peter to build on that progress as he expands his role,” Bolton said.

“Page is a special organization, one that is invaluable to our profession,” Debreceny said. “I am grateful to be in a position to increase its global impact. Our membership outside the U.S. is growing at a faster rate than ever before, strengthening our global community by infusing it with diverse knowledge, experience and points of view. We will build on the tremendous progress that Björn has made in cultivating a vibrant Page network across Europe and I am honored to build on the strong foundation we’re laying all over the world.”

Edlund’s efforts helped Page achieve a critical mass of members in the region and establish national groups led by country chairs that will play a greater role in ensuring a solid value proposition for members in those countries. Debreceny will work with these country chairs to develop compelling member value propositions in their respective countries.

“The exemplary work that Peter has done in APAC and his vast experience as a CCO and Page member prepares him well lead Page’s efforts to expand globally and increase the value of Page to our international members,” Bolton said. “Peter is a powerhouse in the industry – highly accomplished and globally respected. He brings the right experience and passion to tailor support to the needs facing each market we serve.”

Debreceny has an extensive history with Page, serving as a trustee and receiving the Page Distinguished Service Award in 2010 for his considerable contributions to building the communications profession. He has held a variety of international corporate and agency positions in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. His commitment to the profession includes service as a trustee and past co-chair of the Institute for Public Relations and as a member of the Accrediting Council in Journalism and Mass Communications, among others.

This appointment takes effect immediately, as Edlund moves on to a new phase in his professional life more focused on consulting, teaching and writing.
