Notable journalist and media industry moves:

  • CNBC: onboards former Investment News reporter Darla Mercado as a personal finance reporter.
  • Cosmopolitan: Allure assistant beauty editor, Madeline Aberman, joins as associate beauty editor.
  • The New York Times: BuzzFeed reporter, Sapna Maheshwari, joins as an advertising industry reporter.
  • The Verge: Katie Boehret, technology reporter, leaves.
  • Guardian U.S.: New York Post associate editor, Fahima Haque, joins as news editor.
  • Hearst Magazines Digital Media: Cosmopolitan site director Amy Odell onboards as director of editorial strategy for Redbookmag.com. This new role will be in addition to Odell’s current role with Cosmopolitan.
  • The Washington Post: general assignment reporter, Elahe Izadi, upshifts to pop culture writer. Writer Rebecca Sinderbrand, of the Daily Trail, moves to managing editor of The Fix. Politico transportation reporter Martine Powers onboards at the same.
  • TheStreet.com: hires SDNCentral senior reporter Keith Griffith as hedge fund reporter.
  • Nashville Business Journal: Jacob Steimer joins as a reporter covering tourism, hospitality and the music business.
  • Quartz: onboards Newsweek senior editor Elijah Wolfson as deputy editor for science and health coverage. Georgia Frances King joins as ideas editor in New York. Former BBC.com social media editor Sari Zeidler joins as global growth editor. Zeidler will start in New York and will relocate to London this fall. Alice Truong, Silicon Valley correspondent, moves to Hong Kong as deputy growth editor for Asia. Eshe Nelson, former reporter at Bloomberg News, joins as London-based markets and economics reporter.
  • Refinery29: promotes health & wellness director Anna Maltby to deputy editor, health & wellness.
  • Houston Chronicle: onboards Ileana Najarro as general assignment business reporter.
  • Marketplace: Mark Miller, managing editor, leaves.
  • CNBC: Mary Thompson, reporter, leaves.
  • MedCity News: hires Medical Device + Diagnostic Industry senior editor Arundhati Parmar as VP and editorial director.
  • The Plain Dealer (Cleveland): upshifts trending news editor Timothy Warsinskey to managing editor. Warsinskey replaces Thom Fladung, who left last year.
