Atlantic, The: hires Natasha Bertrand (@NatashaBertrand) as a Staff Writer, effective in February.

Los Angeles Times: hires Stephen Miller (@latimes) as Assistant Managing Editor, Digital.

New York Times: hires Ivan Penn (@ivanlpenn) as a Reporter covering alternative energy. He will remain in Los Angeles.

San Francisco Chronicle: hires Josh Koehn (@josh_koehn) as Assistant Metro Editor. He will help manage breaking news coverage for the paper and SFGate.com.

Wall Street Journal: promotes Tatyana Shumsky (@MissShumsky) to Deputy Editor of CFO Journal.

Washington Post: has appointed Jennifer Barrios (@barrioscq) as a Reporter covering Montgomery County government and politics.

Broadcasting

ABC News: hires Zachary Kiesch (@ztkiesch) as a Correspondent in New York.

KCBS/KCAL-TV: promotes Tara Finestone (@tarawallis) to VP and News Director, replacing Bill Dallman, who left.

NBC News: promotes “Today” senior producer Libby Leist (@libbyleist) to Executive Producer of the program, replacing Don Nash.

WFLD-TV: hires Fox News Channel John Potratz (@johnpotratz) as Executive Producer of 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. weekday news programs. He replaces Irene Salerno, who left.

Business and Commerce

Dow Jones Media Group: promotes Duncan Mavin (@dumav) to Managing Editor for news operations and standards. He will help coordinate coverage among the group’s media properties, including Barron’s and MarketWatch.

Kiplinger’s: Doug Harbrecht retires.

Consumer Lifestyle

Bonnier Corp.: (@BonnierCorp) will cease print publication of Sport Diver, Wakeboarding, WaterSki, Baggers and Dirt Rider. The consumer enthusiast publications will move to all-digital publishing models.

Conde Nast: promotes Vogue’s Cameron Bird (@cameronbird) to Special Projects Editor of Vogue, Teen Vogue and Them.

Saveur: Adam Sachs and Dan Dao have left.

Teen Vogue: editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth has left. The magazine has dropped its print edition and is now all-digital. Digital Director Phillip Picardi (@pfpicardi) will oversee coverage. He’s also Chief Content Officer of Them, a digital LGBTQ publication.

Culture, Entertainment and the Arts

Awl, The: and sister website The Hairpin will cease operations at the end of January. Two other sister sites, The Billfold and Splitsider, announced that they will continue. The Billfold, a personal finance site, tweeted that “we’re still alive and considering what’s next.” The Awl was co-founded in 2009 by former Gawker editors Choire Sicha and Alex Balk.

Grok Nation: hires Dalene Rovenstine (@RealDaleneR) as Managing Editor.

ALM: hires Mark Bauer (@MarkBauer) as Managing Editor of The National Law Journal and Texas Lawyer.

Daily Telegraph: Francesca Marshall (@FranEMarshall) has been named News Reporter.

Observer, The: Paul Webster (@paulfwebster) has been appointed Editor.
