Elle Decoration: Kiera Buckley-Jones has been named Decorating Editor.

ES Magazine: Mandi Lennard (@MandiLennard) has been appointed Contributing Editor.

Eurostar’s Metropolitan Magazine: has been acquired by Cedar Communications Ltd.

Glamour: Ellie Davis (@EllieJade_Davis) has been named Editorial Assistant.

Capital Newspapers: hires John D. Blais as General Manager of Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times in Madison, Wis. He begins Aug. 4.

Los Angeles Times: Bob Sipchen and Michelle Maltais have left as part of newsroom buyouts.

News & Observer: David Ranii has retired.

New York Times: David Halbfinger (@halbfinger) has been named Jerusalem Bureau Chief, effective in September. He replaces Ian Fisher, who is leaving. Christopher Drew and Fernanda Santos have left for academic positions.

Reuters: Jean Yoon (@ReutersJean) has been promoted to Executive Editor, Editorial Strategy.

San Francisco Chronicle: David Perlman (@daveperlman) will retire in August, at age 98.

CKUA Radio: Katrina Regan-Ingram has left.

CNN Newsource: hires Natasha Chen (@NatashaKIRO7) and Omar Jimenez as National Correspondents in D.C. The news service produces segments for local TV stations.

Business and Commerce

Barron’s: hires Harvard Business Review website editor Katherine Bell (@katherineabell) as Editor-in-Chief, effective Aug. 28. She replaces Edward Finn who has left.

Crain’s Chicago Business: Danny Ecker (@DannyEcker) is now covering commercial real estate beat.

Mergermarket: hires Dayna Fields (@MyChiFriends) as Senior Reporter. She will also contribute to Dealreporter.

Consumer Lifestyle

Men’s Journal: promotes Greg Emmanuel (@gemmanuel) to Chief Content Officer, replacing Mark Healy who left.

Vanity Fair: Gabriel Sherman (@gabrielsherman) has been named Special Correspondent. He will write for the magazine and Hive, the magazine’s business and politics site. He’s also the author of The Loudest Voice in the Room a book about Fox News founder Roger Ailes.

Healthcare and Medicine

Bryn Mawr Communications: Cassandra Richards has been promoted to Editorial Director for vision publications. The vision group includes Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today, Advanced Ocular Care and Glaucoma Today.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts: a private equity firm, has agreed to acquire WebMD Health Corporation through its Internet Brands unit. The deal, expected to close in the fourth quarter, transforms WebMD into a privately held property. WebMD publishes WebMD, Medscape and other health-related websites. Other Internet Brands properties include AllAboutCounseling.com, DentalPlans.com, eHealthForum, HealthBoards, FitDay, Lawyers.com and VeinDirectory.org.

UBM Medica: Editorial Director Susan Kweskin (@SusanKweskin) now has responsibility for Neurology Times, Endocrinology Network and RheumatologyNetwork. She also oversees PatientCareOnline.com (formerly Consultantlive), Psychiatric Times, TheAIDSReader.com, Drug Topics and PracticalCardiology.com. Amy Reyes moves to a new role at Dermatology Times.

Technology and Telecom

FCW: hires freelancer Derek Johnson as a Staff Writer. The publication (formerly Federal Computer Week) covers “the business of government technology.”

Gizmodo: Sam Rutherford (@samrutherford) has been appointed Senior Reporter for consumer tech, effective July 26. Melanie Ehrenkranz (@MelanieHannah) also joins as Senior Reporter for consumer tech. Sophie Kleeman (@sophiekleeman) has left.
