Here you have it! The most notable journalist and media industry moves of the past week.

U.S.

The New York Times: Kathleen Kingsbury, previously managing editor for digital at The Boston Globe, joins as deputy editorial page editor.

The Washington Post: Heather Long, formerly economics reporter and editor for CNN, joins as economics correspondent.

The Wall Street Journal: Jay Solomon, foreign affairs correspondent, leaves.

The New Yorker: Jessica Winter, formerly features editor for Slate, joins as online executive editor. Winter replaces Vera Titunik, who moves to features editor at Wired.

New York: Mark Bittman, former food policy columnist for The New York Times, joins as columnist.

CNBC.com: Katie Little leaves.

HuffPost: Christina Wilkie, Jason Linkins, David Wood, Ben Walsh, Michael McAuliff, and Laura Barrón-López all leave in recent layoffs.

NBC News: Carol Lee, former White House correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, joins as national political reporter.

Vanity Fair: Joe Pompeo, media reporter for Politico, joins as senior media correspondent for Hive.

Esquire: Nate Erickson, formerly with Bon Appetit and Epicurious, joins as senior lifestyle editor for website.

O, The Oprah Magazine: Brian Underwood, formerly with Dr. Oz The Good Life, replaces Valerie Monroe as beauty editor.

American Media Inc.: acquires Men’s Journal, previously owned by Wenner Media.

Marie Claire: Dr. Samantha Boardman joins as contributing editor and columnist. Her column focusing on wellness will be titled “The Shrink Is In”.

Time Out Philadelphia: Josh Middleton joins as editor.

The Daily Beast: Sam Stein, former senior politics editor for HuffPost, joins as politics editor.

Las Vegas Business Press: ceases print publications.

Los Angeles Business Journal: Anna Magzanyan moves from executive VP to publisher. Magzanyan replaces Matt Toledo, who leaves.

San Antonio Business Journal: Ryan Salchert replaces Katie Burke as real estate and retail reporter. Katie Burke has left to join San Francisco Business Times.

VinePair: launches Jane Street website, which will focus on cannabis culture. Nickolaus Hines and Madison Margolin will act as contributors.

The Augusta (GA) Chronicle: Joe Hotchkiss moves from editorial writer to deputy business editor.

Axios: Sam Baker, formerly staff correspondent for National Journal, joins as deputy healthcare editor.

Longneck & Thunderfoot: acquires EQ Magazine, with Jonathan Allen serving as publisher and editor-in-chief.

CALmatters: Dan Walters, formerly with Sacramento Bee, joins as state politics columnists.

UK

Daily Telegraph: Caroline Argyropulo-Palmer has been appointed assistant news editor.

The Guardian: along with The Observer, will be changing to a tabloid format in 2018.

Guardian Cities: Elle Hunt has been named commissioning and communities editor.

i: Nick Clegg has joined as a columnist.

The Independent: Ben Kelly has been appointed deputy social media editor.

Mirror Online: Jessica Gibb has been named senior celebrity reporter.

The Sun: Jacob Lewis has been appointed travel writer.

The Sun Online: Joe Kasper has been appointed Bizarre reporter.

Sunday Times Style: Muffie Sproat has been named picture editor.

HuffPost UK: Rachel Wearmouth has been named politics reporter, after leaving The Sunday Post.

GQ: George Chesterton has been promoted to managing editor. Aaron Callow has been appointed chief sub-editor.

Aberdeen Evening Express: Charlie Allan has retired.

Croydon Guardian: Riley Krause has been appointed reporter. Krause was previously at Area News.

Shropshire Star: Jonny Drury has been named reporter.

Sunday Herald: Peter Swindon has been appointed senior reporter.

ITN: Tami Hoffman has been named head of news.

ITV West Country: Laura Heads has been appointed content editor.

BRIDES: Lucinda Turner has joined Shop Magazine as acting fashion editor.

Escapism: Lydia Winter has been named associate editor.

Grand Designs: Karen Stylianides has been named editor. She was previously at House Beautiful.

John Lewis Edition: Francesca Ryan has left to pursue freelance opportunities.

Net-a-Porter.com: Suzanne Scott has left to freelance.

Port Magazine: Alex Petsetakis has left to freelance.

Conference & Incentive Travel: Calum Di Lieto has been appointed editor.

New Statesman: Sooraj Shah has been appointed contributing editor, NS Tech.

Global Telecoms Business: Natalie Bannerman has been appointed reporter working across Capacity and Global Telecoms Business.
