Detroit Free Press: hires Peter Bhatia (@peterbhatia) as Executive Editor, effective Sept. 19.

Jewish Journal: editor-in-chief and publisher Rob Eshman will leave on Sept. 26.

Morning Call: hires Binghui Huang (@Bhuang2012) as Health Reporter.

Newsweek: editor-in-chief Matt McAllester has left. Interim Editor-in-Chief Bob Roe (@Newsweek) will take the position permanently. Meghan Bartels (@meghanbartels) joins as Science Writer.

New York Times: promotes Jonathan Weisman (@jonathanweisman) to Congressional Editor. He had been overseeing domestic policy and D.C.-based healthcare coverage. Domestic Affairs Correspondent Sheryl Stolberg (@SherylNYT) will be the Lead Reporter for Capitol Hill coverage. Also joining the Congressional reporting team are Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) and Nicholas Fandos (@npfandos). David Enrich joins as a Financial Editor for Business Day. Senior Editor Janet Elder (@nytjanet) will move to a new role leading efforts to obtain philanthropic funding for editorial projects. Gal Beckerman (@galbeckerman) joins as a Preview Editor on the Books desk. Deborah Solomon (@deborah_solomon) joins as a D.C.-based Economics Editor, effective Sept. 18. Michelle Goldberg (@michelleinbklyn) joins as an Opinion Columnist.

Tampa Bay Times: moves Justine Griffin (@sunbizgriffin) to health and medicine.

USA Today: promotes Heidi Przybyla (@HeidiPrzybyla) to White House Reporter.

Broadcasting

WCCO-TV: Mike Caputa (@mcaputa) has left.

Business and Commerce

ROI-NJ: hires Eric Strauss (@acerimrat) and Anjalee Khemlani (@AnjKhem) as Managing Editors. The New Jersey business publication is set to launch online Sept. 12 and in print Oct. 9.

TheStreet.com: hires Personal Finance Columnist Robert Powell (@TheStreet) to a regular position in its newsroom. He will expand the site’s personal finance and retirement coverage, including a regular column and a new subscription product on retirement topics. He will also participate in events.

Marie Claire: hires Joyce Bautista Ferrari as Managing Editor.

One West Magazine: Jeremy Bamidele (@JeremyBamidele) has been appointed Managing Editor.

Vanity Fair: editor Graydon Carter (@EGraydonCarter) will leave at the end of the year.

Culture, Entertainment and the Arts

FishbowlNY and FishbowlDC: have ceased publication. They were part of the Adweek blog network. Adweek and Adweek.com will continue covering media news.

Healthcare and Medicine

Diabetes Forecast: promotes Tracey Neithercott (@T_Neithercott) to Associate Director. She remains the best contact for lifestyle pitches.

HealthITInteroperability.com: has ceased operation as a standalone website. The URL now redirects to sister site EHR Intelligence (@EHRIntel).

Politico: hires Michael Calderone (@mlcalderone) as Senior Media Writer, effective later this month. His responsibilities will include the “Morning Media” newsletter.
