Notable journalist and media industry moves:

USA Today: Philana Patterson moves to Money editor. David Brinkerhoff, former metro editor for The New York Times, joins as deputy Money editor. Zlati Meyer, former reporter for Detroit Free Press, joins as New York-based consumer reporter; Meyer’s beat includes coverage of the food/beverage industry, restaurants, and supermarkets.

Reuters: Pete Schroeder, formerly with The Hill, joins as bank regulation reporter. Linda Stern retires from position as financial regulation editor.

The Associated Press: Ravi Nessman moves from South editor to South regional news director.

Chicago Tribune: Ryan Ori, former real estate reporter for Crain’s Chicago Business, joins as business columnist focusing on commercial real estate and development.

American City Business Journals: Tammy Tierney, formerly VP of communications, becomes editor of Bizwomen.com.

Meredith Corporation: Jill Waage, digital editorial director of Better Homes and Gardens, joins as editor-in-chief of Traditional Home. James A. Baggett, former Country Gardens editor, joins as garden editor of Better Homes and Gardens.

Newsday: Emily Ngo moves from New York City politics reporter to national politics beat for Washington.

Fox News Channel: Alan Colmes, contributor, passed away.

Silicon Valley Business Journal: Lynn Peithman Stock moves from special project editor to assistant managing editor for print and special projects.

The Daily Beast: Lachlan Markay, former staff writer for Washington Free Beacon, joins as White House reporter.

People StyleWatch: Bethany Heitman moves from interim editor to editor-in-chief.

Self: Amy Rushlow joins as deputy editor. Her experience includes working as senior editor for Yahoo Health and managing editor of Prevention.com.

Investopedia: Ruth Konigsberg becomes managing editor. Will Kenton moves from senior editor of news to deputy managing editor. David Floyd moves from associate producer to staff writer.

KCUR Public Media (Kansas City, MO): acquires KHI News Service, and will relaunch the non-profit news service as Kansas News Service. The service covers healthcare, education, and politics. Jim McLean, former executive editor, will serve as managing director. Amy Jeffries will be editor.

M.D./Alert: John Henry Dreyfuss, editorial director, leaves for a position as senior communications strategist with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Automotive News: Michael Wayland, automotive industry reporter for Detroit News, joins as staff reporter.

HMP Communications Holdings: acquires EMS World, which includes EMS World magazine and EMS World Expo. Nancy Perry continues as editorial director.

Midwest Living: Hannah Agran moves from senior food editor to deputy editor.

Stat: Elizabeth Cooney, former Boston Globe health correspondent, joins as editor of STAT Plus. Max Blau, CNN news writer, joins as southern correspondent covering healthcare topics.

Hour Media Group: acquires city magazines from Los Angeles, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Orange Coast. Mary Melton, Los Angeles editor-in-chief, and Amy Wallace, editor-at-large, leave.

Family Fun: Amy Palanjian joins as lifestyle director covering the “Create” section, as well as crafts, parties, and holidays.

Industry Dive: Shannon Muchmore, former D.C. reporter for Modern Healthcare, joins as editor of Healthcare Dive.

Healthcare Management Technology: Janette Wider, former marketing consultant, replaces Chad M. Van Alstin as editor. Alstin left to work in media relations at Amendola Communications.

Sioux Falls Business Journal: Jodi Schwan, editor, leaves.

National Post: national political columnist Michael Den Tandt leaves to become a communications adviser in the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Canadian Press: reporter and editor Diana Mehta becomes Ontario news editor.

CBC Nova Scotia: freelance data journalist Alexander Quon joins.

CBC Ottawa: Joe Lofaro, formerly with Ottawa Citizen, joins as online journalist.

La Presse Canadienne: Mick Côté, former deputy executive producer for Montreal Gazette, joins as news editor, digital.

Victoria Times Colonist: columnist David Bly retires after 46 years in journalism.

TSN: After Fox Sports cancels Fox Sports Live, hosts Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole return to TSN.
