Washington Post: hires Chris Shea as an Editor on the Outlook/PostEverything team. He begins August 27. Sophia Nguyen (@sophiah_n) also joins on Sept. 4 She will work with inexperienced outside writers to develop first-person essays and other pieces.

Atlantic, The: hires Prashant Rao (@prashantrao) as Global Editor in London. He will oversee coverage of U.S. foreign policy, democracy, and global conflict, managing reporters in Washington, London, and Paris. He replaces Kathy Gilsinan (@kgilsinan), who will become a Staff Writer covering counter-terrorism.
CALmatters: hires Shawn Hubler (@ShawnHubler) as Deputy Editor.
