Daily Beast, The: promotes Noah Shachtman (@NoahShachtman) to Editor-in-Chief.

Long Beach Press-Telegram: Melissa Evans (@MelissaEvansPT), Tim Grobaty (@grobaty) and Jeremiah Dobruck (@jeremiahdobruck) have left. They’re planning to launch a new media outlet focusing on Long Beach.

Omaha World-Herald: Barbara Soderlin (@barbarasoderlin) has left.

San Antonio Express-News: (@pfikac) Peggy Fikac has left.

Telegraph, The: in the UK plans to launch a Silicon Valley bureau. Current London-based Tech Editor James Titcomb (@jamestitcomb) will serve as Silicon Valley Bureau Chief. Staffers in the bureau will include U.S. Tech Reporters Margi Murphy (@MargiMurphy) and Laurence Dodds (@LFDodds), both of whom will move from London to San Francisco.

Tronc: acquires the Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, Va.) (@virginianpilot) from Landmark Media Enterprises.

Wall Street Journal: Rob Copeland (@realrobcopeland) moves to the Silicon Valley beat.

Washington Post: hires Mark Lasswell (@washingtonpost) as Associate Op-Ed Editor, effective June 11.

CNBC: hires Megan Leonhardt (@Megan_Leonhardt) as a Senior Money Reporter for Make It.

CNBC.com: hires Dawn Kopecki (@Dawn_Kopecki) as an Editor on the corporate news team, effective in late June. She will help oversee coverage of healthcare, retail and other industries.

MSNBC: hires Michael Del Moro (@MikeDelMoro) as a Booking Producer for “Morning Joe.”

MarketWatch: hires Sarah Toy (@sarahtoy17) as a Media Industry Reporter.

SourceMedia: hires Walden Siew (@waldensiew) as Editor-in-Chief of the Employee Benefits Group, which includes Employee Benefit News and Employee Benefit Adviser.
