New York Daily News: Mike Lupica (@NYDailyNews) has left.

New York Times: hires Eliza Shapiro (@elizashapiro) as an Education Reporter for the Metro desk.

San Antonio Express-News: hires Madison Iszler (@madisoniszler) as Business Reporter. She will cover manufacturing and technology.

Wall Street Journal: (@WSJ) hires Jack Hagel as Editor of CFO Journal (@CFOJournal) and Risk and Compliance Journal (@WSJRisk). Richard Barley has left.

Washington Post: moves Samantha Schmidt (@schmidtsam7) to a new role covering gender and family topics on the Social Issues team.

CBS This Morning: hires Lete Childs (@cbsthismorning) as Producer.

Washington Business Journal: Jen Nycz-Conner (@WBJonline) has left for a marketing position with Hilton Hotels & Resorts.

Wichita Business Journal: Josh Heck (@ICTBizJournal) has left.

Healio.com: appoints John Schoen (@GoHealio) as Executive Editor of Infectious Diseases in Children, in addition to his current role overseeing Infectious Disease News. Bruce Thiel, who previously managed Infectious Diseases in Children, is now a Senior Staff Writer for both publications.

Politico Pro: hires Alice Ollstein (@AliceOllstein) as a Healthcare Reporter.

Technology and Telecoms

Afrotech: hires John Ketchum (@Ketchcast) as Managing Editor. The website from Blavity Inc. covers the “intersection of Black business, media and tech.”

GrepBeat: (grepbeat.com) launches as a twice-weekly e-newsletter covering technology startups in the Raleigh-Durham area. It will be followed by a website and a directory of local companies, investors and services. Pete McEntegart (@grepbeat) serves as Managing Editor.

SearchNetworking.com: Jean DerGurahian has left (@networkingtt). She’s now a Content Manager for DockYard, Inc.

Travel, Transport and Logistics

Condé Nast Traveler: has combined its U.S. and UK editions, effective with the January 2019 issue. UK Editor-in-Chief Melinda Stevens (@MelindaStevens3) will oversee the merged publications. U.S. Editor-in-Chief Pilar Guzmán will remain in that role until the end of the year. Staffers will work from New York and London.
