Notable journalist and media industry moves:

  • The Globe and Mail: Adrian Morrow moves to D.C. bureau, as Tamsin McMahon moves to California to help expand U.S. coverage.
  • The New York Times: Damien Cave moves from national editor to chief of the new Australia bureau; Jacqueline Williams and Michelle Innis also join bureau. Quentin Hardy, former technology reporter, leaves for job at Google.
  • Bloomberg: Kevin Cirilli moves from political/policy reporter to chief Washington correspondent for Bloomberg Television.
  • BuzzFeed: Steven Perlberg, formerly of The Wall Street Journal, joins as media reporter.
  • Reuters: Amy Stevens moves from executive editor to global editor for companies coverage strategy. Simon Gardner moves from Mexico and Central America bureau chief to deputy managing editor for operations, Asia. Bobbi Rebell Kaufman, TV anchor and columnist on personal finance, leaves.
  • The Wall Street Journal: Phil Izo moves from digital news deputy editor to mobile news editor.
  • Crain’s Detroit Business: reporters to now cover single beats: Jay Greene covers healthcare beat, Lindsay VanHulle to focus on government, and Sherri Welch to cover nonprofits. Chad Livengood, formerly with The Detroit News, joins as senior reporter on “Detroit on the rise” beat. Tyler Clifford, Annalise Frank, and Kurt Nagl join as breaking news reporters working with news editor Beth Valone.
  • Competitor Group: Jessie Sebor moves from editor-in-chief of Women’s Running to VP of media for publication.
  • San Francisco Chronicle: Fernando Diaz senior editor for Center for Investigative Reporting, moves to managing editor of digital. Michael Gray moves from enterprise and investigations editor to managing editor of enterprise. Tim O’Rourke moves from executive producer/editor of SFChronicle.com to assistant managing editor.
  • Columbus Business First: Dominic Cappa, former editor, retires.
  • Morning Consult: Anna Yukhananov, formerly a reporter for Reuters, joins as editor for health and energy.
  • Streetwise Media: Former editor-in-chief Galen Moore and general manager Bill Utt leave.
  • KTVT-TV (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX): Angela Parquet-Taylor, former news director for WNCN-TV (Raleigh, NC), joins as VP and news director.
  • Tronc (previously Tribune Co.): owner of Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune acquires Spanfeller Media Group. The company’s new holdings include TheDailyMeal.com and TheActiveTimes.com.
  • McClatchy DC: Katie Glueck, formerly with Politico, joins as reporter covering Republicans. Alex Roarty, formerly of Roll Call, joins as reporter covering Democrats. Reports will appear in Charlotte Observer, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kansas City Star, Miami Herald, News & Observer, and Sacramento Bee.
  • Atlantic Magazine: Thomas Wheatley, former editor of Creative Loafing Atlanta, joins as articles editor.
  • Bon Appetit: Amanda Shapiro is editor of new online section “Healthyish”, which is devoted to healthy eating and wellness.
  • Food & Wine: Danica Lo joins as digital director.
  • Bloomberg Politics: Mark Halperin, former managing editor, leaves.
  • WTIC-TV (Hartford, CT): Mike Piskorski acts as interim news director after Coleen Marren retires.
