BackBay Communications, a leading public relations and integrated content-marketing firm specializing in the financial services sector, announced that it has been chosen as the PR and marketing partner of Big Path Capital, impact investing’s investment bank.
BackBay will serve as Big Path’s PR agency of record, helping to shine a light on Big Path’s impact investing events and its work with companies, funds, and investors seeking to make a positive social and environmental impact on the world while simultaneously maximizing profits.
“Recently, chief executives from the Business Roundtable—including the CEOs of Apple and JPMorgan Chase—made the case that shareholder value isn’t everything. Companies must also invest in employees and deliver value to customers,” said Shawn Lesser, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Big Path, which serves as an investment bank for sustainable businesses and a placement agent for impact private equity funds. “At Big Path, that has been our focus since we founded the company in 2007.”
“Given BackBay’s in-depth knowledge and long track record representing financial services and impact investing clients, we are proud to team up to take mission-driven investing from the margins to the mainstream,” added Big Path Co-Founder and Managing Partner Michael Whelchel.
BackBay Communications—with clients in private equity, venture capital, wealth management, the fund industry, and fintech—has been working in the impact space for nearly five years.
Impact clients that BackBay has worked with include: Athena Capital Advisors, a pioneer in socially responsible and gender-lens investing; LeapFrog Investments, which recently raised the largest private-equity fund by a dedicated impact manager; and Economist Events, for which BackBay provided support for this year’s Climate Risk Summit in London and Investing for Impact Conference in New York.
“Impact ceased being a niche category within financial services years ago—it is now core to the strategies of investment firms, insurers, wealth managers, family offices, and private equity,” said Bill Haynes, Founder and CEO of BackBay Communications. “And we’re thrilled to be working with Big Path Capital, which is one of the most respected and influential names in the global impact economy.”
