Crosswind Media and Public Relations, a top-100 public relations firm based in Texas, announced it has hired Katherine Carmichael and acquired Carmichael Communications & Consulting, a Texas-based energy and oil and gas public relations agency. Carmichael will serve as a vice president in Crosswind’s Austin, Texas office.
“Katie is a remarkable talent who has a successful record of managing complex public involvement projects and who fully understands the energy industry, from oil and gas to renewables,” said Crosswind CEO Thomas Graham. “She’s an ideal complement to our already strong energy practice.” Crosswind’s energy practice includes clients in nuclear power, renewable energy and oil and gas exploration and service.
Carmichael Communications represents associations, non-governmental organizations and principals in energy exploration and development. Previously, Carmichael served as Director of Public Affairs for Texas Railroad Commissioner David Porter, directing the Commissioner’s communications and serving as regulatory and legislative liaison. Carmichael played an integral role in producing the Eagle Ford Shale Task Force Report in 2013, the first comprehensive report on the expansive oil and gas field and its impact and regulatory needs.
While receiving her Bachelors of Arts in Journalism from Texas State University, Carmichael worked as a legislative intern and a freelance writer for local newspapers. Following graduation, she continued to serve in various positions within state government until forming her own business in 2014.
The acquisition will close on December 31, 2017.
