The Pollack PR Marketing Group (PPMG) announced that D.A.R.E. America, a leading substance abuse prevention education organization, has retained the agency to support the nationwide launch of its opioid and prescription drug abuse prevention lessons for schools and communities across the country. The agency will conduct widespread local and regional media relations to draw awareness of its new program. A thought leadership program will add support to the educational effort and bring national attention to the urgent issue of opioid abuse.
Founded in 1983 in Los Angeles, D.A.R.E. is a law enforcement-led program that has delivered comprehensive prevention education to schools and communities for 35 years. Since 2008, its keepin’ it REAL program, developed with Pennsylvania State University and Arizona State University, as well as with support from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, has used science and evidence-based curricula to address drugs, violence, bullying, internet safety and other high-risk circumstances in classrooms for students of all ages, their parents, and their neighborhoods.
“We are pleased to have a partner in PPMG, a firm that has decades of demonstrated successes in media relations and thought leadership for non-profits, municipalities, and community organizations,” said Richard Mahan, D.A.R.E. America Chief Operating Officer. “The agency has presented a strategy that we believe will not only reach our constituents, but also the community leaders and influencers in local government, health and education — who all can make a difference in preventing this national crisis.”
According to PPMG CEO, Noemi Pollack, “D.A.R.E. is an incredible organization that does important work in classrooms across the country. We are thrilled to partner with them on this important mission and look forward to helping the organization make positive change in how the U.S. handles opioid drug abuse.”
