by | Apr 3, 2024

New York, NY — April 3, 2024The Institute for Public Relations (IPR) has launched IPR NEXT, a new membership community for emerging leaders with less than 10 years of experience. IPR NEXT is designed to empower professionals in their early career stages with research-driven training and development opportunities, mentorship, and peer connection opportunities to foster their career growth and success within the industry.

IPR NextKadrie Lamin, global brand manager at Hilton, has been named the inaugural chair of IPR NEXT. His leadership will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction of IPR NEXT and ensuring its initiatives align with the evolving needs of emerging professionals in the field.

“IPR NEXT aims to bridge the gap between aspiration and accomplishment for emerging leaders,” said Lamin. “IPR NEXT empowers its members to thrive in their careers and become the future leaders of the industry.”

The following benefits are included in the annual IPR NEXT membership:

  • IPR NEXT Certificate Programs and Leadership Sessions
  • Access to IPR research, signature studies, and thought leadership
  • Mentorship Circles: Led by senior-level leaders from IPR ELEVATE and the IPR Board of Trustees based on shared interests and expertise.
  • Peer Collaboration and Connection Opportunities
  • In-Person Events: Receptions, mixers, and programs with industry leaders and peers.
  • The IPR NEXT Newsletter
  • Access to the IPR Mobile App

Research has found that professional development opportunities lead to improved employee satisfaction, retention, and productivity. According to a recent study by SHRM and Handshake, 32% of “emerging professionals” expect to stay at their next or current job for four years or more, but 65% said they would stay four years or more if given consistent opportunities to build in-demand skills. Also, nearly 9 in 10 Millennials in a 2024 Gallup study reported that professional development or career growth opportunities are “very important” to them in a job.

“IPR NEXT provides a unique opportunity for the next generation of public relations and communications professionals to connect with industry leaders, share best practices, and drive the industry forward, all with research as the primary connection point,” said IPR NEXT Committee Chair and IPR Trustee Katherine Burns of L’Oreal Group (US). “This new community will help cultivate a diverse and dynamic workforce that drives industry innovation and excellence.”

IPR NEXT is the second membership community IPR has launched. Launched in 2022, IPR ELEVATE is a diverse and select membership community of upper mid-level to senior-level professionals who are catalysts for growth, change, and advancement.
