by | Jan 20, 2021

M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment NYC has been named agency of record for leading fitness wearable brand WHOOP following an extensive competitive review. The agency will lead a comprehensive communications program to elevate WHOOP and introduce the brand to new global markets.

WHOOP is the human performance tracker that delivers 24/7 personalized fitness, sleep and recovery data in real time with the aim of helping users unlock their potential. Worn by elite athletes including NFL and PGA players to pro cyclists and master trainers, WHOOP provides a competitive advantage and optimizes performance by measuring recovery, strain and sleep with industry-leading accuracy.

The Boston-based company raised $100m in Series E funding in October, making WHOOP a start-up unicorn valued at $1.2 billion with investment from the likes of Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, 2x NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, 11x Pro Bowler Larry Fitzgerald, 2x Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, and 4x Major Champion Rory McIlroy. On January 6, WHOOP announced a landmark multi-year partnership to become the official fitness wearable of the PGA TOUR.

M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment – a creative communications agency that specializes in connecting brands to consumer passion points through data-led insights and provocative creative that earns attention – will collaborate with WHOOP to further raise its profile in the U.S., as well as, overseeing global strategy and launching the brand in the U.K. and Germany with the M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment agencies in those markets. The partnership with WHOOP encompasses strategic global communications, media relations, thought leadership and events.

“We are incredibly excited to be partnering with WHOOP. We are longtime fans and are looking forward to helping the brand enter a new phase of growth and expansion both in the U.S. and globally,” said Andrea Nirsimloo, President & Partner at M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment NYC. “Now, more than ever, consumers are passionate about their health, their sleep, their fitness, and WHOOP is perfectly positioned to help people understand their bodies and unlock their human potential.”

“WHOOP is a pioneer in the human performance category and 2020 was a year of hypergrowth for our business,” said Antonio Bertone, Chief Marketing Officer at WHOOP. “M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment has become a valuable partner in telling our story and reaching new members all over the world.”

WHOOP joins a robust roster of globally recognized brands in sport and entertainment which shape culture and drive change.
