Public Relations Global Network Agencies Start 2021 with More Than 100 New Client Assignments

by | Mar 10, 2021

NEW YORK-LONDON, March 10, 2021 – Member agencies of the Public Relations Global Network (PRGN) have reported an unprecedented surge of new business success in the first two months of 2021. Despite the global pandemic and its economic impacts worldwide, independent agencies prove resilient, agile and successful in expanding their business offering – an internal survey at PRGN shows.

PRGN member agencies reported a total of 119 new client assignments in the January-February period. While eight of those were a result of existing contracts expanded with new services or geographies, more than 110 are new business contracts agency members of the global group earned in the first two months of 2021, a survey among the member agencies found. The largest chunk of new contracts comes from the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors: no surprise during a global pandemic and a sign of long-term business opportunities for the agencies as the sector is likely to prosper in post-pandemic years.

Of PRGN’s 50 agencies, 23 have reported successful new business contracts, with the most successful firm picking up more than 20 new projects, including assignments pointing forward to 2023, 2024 and 2025. Two thirds of the new contracts came to agencies based in North, Latin and South America, with close to 30 new assignments picked up by agencies in the EMEA – Europe, Middle East, Africa – region.

Of sectors and industries represented among the new contracts, the highest demand came from the healthcare and pharma sectors, followed by finance and construction and real estate, while non-profit organizations and education institutions also ranked high among the new clients of agencies.

The types of services agencies contracted for also demonstrates agility and innovation in the communications firms’ offering, as influencer marketing, web and digital solutions and social media campaigns appeared in high numbers in the new contracts. A clear sign of the Covid-times is a strong representation of virtual and hybrid events, crisis communications and strategic planning among the services new clients have asked from the agencies.

“It is the times of crisis that best show the true quality of every service provider. Our internal survey has showed that PRGN agencies are healthy and strong independent firms that prove resilient, agile and successful in expanding their business offering when the environment and clients’ needs change,” said Robert Bauer, President of PRGN and managing partner of accelent communications in Vienna, Austria. “It’s my honor to lead this global group of agencies at a time when our member agencies prove to be the beacons for their clients in uncertain times.”
