Mower Chairman & CEO Eric Mower has received the 2022 Corning Award for Excellence by The Business Council of New York State. The honor was bestowed September 22 during a celebration at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY.

The Corning Award for Excellence is given each year to a New Yorker who has demonstrated an outstanding level of accomplishment and a deep and sustaining commitment to the people of New York State. It is represented by a magnificent piece of original Steuben Glass, handcrafted by masters in Corning, New York, and is the most prestigious annual award presented by The Business Council and Corning Incorporated. Eric has been a member of The Business Council for more than 30 years and served as Board Chair in 2019 and 2020.

Heather Briccetti Mulligan, President & CEO, The Business Council of New York State noted, “Eric has earned this honor by operating a successful company for more than 50 years while also donating his time and, in many cases, his business resources to ensure The Business council continues to grow and amplify its voice as a pro-business advocacy association.”

The Business Council of New York State is the leading business organization in the state, representing the interests of large and small firms. Membership is made up of roughly 3,500 member companies, local chambers of commerce and professional and trade associations. Though 76% of its members are small businesses, it also represents some of the largest and most important corporations in the world. Combined, members employ more than 1.2 million New Yorkers, and The Business Council of New York State serves as an advocate for employers in the state’s political and policy-making arenas, working for a healthier business climate, economic growth, and jobs.

“If ever there was one, remarkable constant I observed in my 30+ years of membership in the Business Council, it is the unwavering, constructive voice the Council brings to our government for the benefit of not just the businesses in New York State, but also for the people who work in those businesses.”
