Although the Toronto Blue Jays are off to a slightly mediocre start in 2016, that hasn’t stopped its legions of fans — and plenty of media — from tweeting and retweeting the heck out of the ballclub.
Perhaps fittingly, most of the team’s top ten influencers by retweets last week were Sportsnet related (Sportsnet is owned by Rogers, which also owns the team along with its downtown Toronto stadium).
These influencers included official handle @Sportsnet, Sportsnet reporter Barry Davis (@SNBarryDavis) and baseball columnist Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi).
@SNStats, the most retweeted account other than the Blue Jays’ own official handle, had several statistics-related items retweeted.
Russell Martin is on pace for 204 strikeouts this season. #BlueJays record is 159 set by Kelly Johnson in 2012 & Jose Canseco in 1998.

The Buffalo Bisons, the Blue Jays’ AAA team, also made the top ten along with Canadian Baseball writer and JaysProspects.com founder April Whizman (@Alleycat17).
Coincidence? @BlueJays and @KPillar4 have an off-day on #NationalSuperheroDay Hmmm… pic.twitter.com/iaPJTegOp5

Parody account Jose Meowtista also had several retweets last week, partially driven by a hot new piece of clothing:
Was flippin’ about @The_JayWalk‘s “Joey Bat Flip” shirt, so they made me a “Joey Cat Flip” shirt! Meow! #BlueJays pic.twitter.com/IogBB0ADDE

There was even one Blue Jays player to make the top ten influencers by retweets table for last week, after closer Roberto Osuna’s tweet of himself with a young fan:
He got it !!! Great kid , god bless him #cooper @BlueJays !! pic.twitter.com/Ai475DRQtI
