Red Lorry Yellow Lorry strikes gold at the PR Club’s 52nd Annual Bell Ringer Awards

by | Jun 18, 2020

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry was a two-time winner of the PR Club’s 52nd Annual Bell Ringer Awards! The firm came away with top honors for both of their entries this year, including a Gold Bell in the Crisis Communications Campaign category for “Turning a Hollywood disaster into a PR win” for our work on behalf of client Avid Technology. They also secured a Bronze Bell in the Single Item Division for best Digital/Print Vertical/Trade Media Placement for “From Times Square to a Top Campaign of the Year” for their work with client AKA NYC. The PR Club presented the awards at its first-ever digital award ceremony via Twitter on June 10th and 11th.

The Gold Bell recognizes our Avid team’s commitment to neutralizing negative media coverage when the company was wrongly blamed for a software issue that affected film and TV editors worldwide. Turning Avid’s media coverage sentiment from negative to neutral within 24 hours may have seemed an insurmountable task – but not for the lorries! The tide quickly swung from 71% negative to 92% neutral thanks to fast thinking and responsive media communications.

The Bronze Bell was awarded for spotlighting a successful campaign by AKA NYC to promote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which cumulated in a Times Square takeover, effectively turning the historic tourist area into a large immersive theatre. The lorries secured a feature article that was highlighted as Adweek’s Ad of the Day and secured AKA NYC’s position as one of the publication’s top 15 stunts and innovations of the year.

Meredith L. Eaton, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry Director of North America and longtime Bell Ringer Judge said: “The caliber of award entries seems to get better with each passing year. And for us to come away with two Bell Ringer Awards amid such great campaigns from our industry peers is a great testament to our teams’ specialist industry knowledge, tightknit media relationships and close collaboration with our clients.”

Held annually by the PR Club, the oldest organization for communication professionals in New England, the Bell Ringer Awards honor outstanding achievements in PR and marketing, showcasing the best of the New England PR community with innovative strategies and tactics, compelling campaigns and creative thinking.
