APCO Worldwide recently broadened its expertise in global markets, life sciences, health and sustainability, public policy and media relations with six new International Advisory Council (IAC) members including Peter Broegger, Nares Damrongchai, Jeanette Fielding, Justine Handelman, Tony Perkins and Ken Stern, APCO Founder and Executive Chairman Margery Kraus announced today.

“As we enter an increasingly interconnected world with a new series of complex and diverse issues, it is crucial for organizations to understand varying global public policy, business and media considerations,” Kraus said. “With this in mind, I am looking forward to our newest members providing their expertise and guidance for our clients to navigate these business challenges, and I sincerely welcome them to the IAC.”

Broegger is a global consumer products executive with more than 30 years of experience in markets across the globe. Previously, he served as the managing director of Mattel Asia Pacific where he was responsible for accelerated growth strategies, IP engagement and digital transformation. Broegger also demonstrates expertise in building shareholder value and brands in Europe, Middle East and Africa, often in collaboration with strategic partners, local distributors and global retailers.

Specializing in the life sciences sector, Dr. Damrongchai previously worked as the executive director of the APEC Center for Technology Foresight, two full terms as the CEO of the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences, the lead shepherd of the APEC Industrial Science and Technology Working Group and acted as co-chair of APEC Life Sciences Innovation Forum. He also joined an International Expert Panel for Asia-Pacific in the creation of the Personalized Health Index. Since 2021, Dr. Damrongchai has worked with Genepeutic Bio—a biotech company working to develop next-generation cell and gene therapies.

After 25 years at some of the world’s most significant consumer products, food and health care companies, Dr. Fielding started Confident Strategy Group and previously served in senior leadership roles at Bayer, Mars and Pfizer. With expertise in global public affairs, sustainability and ESG policy, corporate communications and issues management for companies, she recently worked as the chief corporate affairs and sustainability officer for Upfield and previously led health strategy and women’s health for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Australia and New Zealand.

As a leader in the government affairs and political strategy sector, Handelman has extensive experience influencing public policy at the federal and state levels, while also excelling at building high-performing teams and coalitions to achieve legislative and regulatory outcomes. Previously, she worked as the senior vice president for Policy and Advocacy at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and due to her notable reputation, she was named a Top Lobbyist by The Hill on numerous occasions and has been quoted extensively in national media.

Recognized as an Emmy Award winning television and radio personality who currently acts as a co-host of “The Donnie Simpson Show” on MAJIC 102.3 FM, Perkins has over 30 years of extensive experience in the Washington, D.C., media scene. He is best known for his role at Fox 5 as an evening and morning news anchor, and for his time as the weatherman on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” During his time on ABC, he covered multiple major weather events and appeared on many TV shows, including “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Larry King Live,” and the “American Music Awards.”

With an impressive career at the National Public Radio, Stern was the CEO of NPR, doubling the audience during his tenure to more than 26 million weekly listeners and increased the company’s revenue from $75 million to $210 million. Currently, he serves as the chair of the Longevity Project and leads the creative and business teams at Palisades Media Ventures with a focus on innovative programming for digital platforms and television. He frequently contributes to publications such as The Atlantic, Slate, The Daily Beast, The Washington Post and the Chronicle of Philanthropy.

The new members join more than 100 global leaders in the IAC, including policy experts, former politicians, renowned journalists, nonprofit pioneers, diplomats and academics—offering invaluable experience and expertise in various areas. Each new member brings a notable track record of specialties aimed to broaden APCO’s perspective and provide best-in-class expertise. Clients can receive counsel from individual members or a select group of members with varying perspectives to gain valuable insight to make the right decisions.
