The PR Council, the only association dedicated to agencies with public relations offerings, named APCO Worldwide President and Managing Director of Operations Evan Kraus as an interim vice chair.
In a unanimous decision, the PRC board elected Kraus to serve in the position—which had been vacant as the organization updated its bylaws—until December 31, 2020, along with Heather Kernahan—CEO, North America, Hotwire—who will serve as interim chair.
In his new role, Kraus will work closely with other members of PRC Executive Committee, including Secretary Lee Caraher, CEO of Double Forte; Treasurer Mike Santoro, president of Walker Sands; and Kim Sample, president of PR Council. Founded in 1998, PR Council member firms include more than 100 of America’s leading communications agencies across every discipline and practice area.
“The PRC’s 2020 plans include several initiatives to safeguard the economics and enhance the reputation of the industry, and those are more important than ever as firms embrace the ‘next normal,’” Kraus said. “I’m delighted to work alongside Heather, Lee, Mike and the rest of the Board to set the PRC’s strategic priorities and do important work to serve members.”
Earlier this year, the PR Council launched the Agency-Ready Certificate Program and career portal, targeting college students and recent graduates interested in PR agency careers. APCO is a proud participant of the program, and is committed to support the next generation of PR professionals.
