by | May 14, 2021

Baker Public Relations, a full-service, woman-owned communications firm located in Pittsburgh and Albany, New York, announced that it has been named PR agency of record for Gwen’s Girls and the Sofranko Advisory Group.

Gwen’s Girls is a nonprofit organization that empowers girls and young women to live productive lives through holistic, gender-specific programs and education. Through many avenues, Gwen’s Girls advocates for positive changes in girls, their families, and their communities breaking down social barriers such as color, race and gender.

Founded by Gwen Elliott, the City of Pittsburgh’s first female and African American police commander was a champion of women and girls for four decades. Her guidance and courage lives on through the many families the program has transformed. Dr. Kathi Elliott, Gwen’s daughter, has been the CEO of Gwen’s Girls since 2002 and is widely respected in this arena.

Baker Public Relations will serve as a strategic communications partner for public relations, event planning and marketing.

Additionally, the Sofranko Advisory Group (SAG) has chosen Baker Public Relations to provide public relations services. Since 2000, Ron Sofranko has led the Wexford-based SAG specializing in consulting, financing and brokering restaurants, bars, beer distributors and liquor licenses. It is one of the largest full-service hospitality consulting firms in Pennsylvania.

Sofranko founded SAG in 2000 and has owned more than 25 restaurants and consulted on the opening of more than 100 others. Currently, he is a partner or owner in eight restaurants in the Pittsburgh region.

“Baker Public Relations is honored to be representing Gwen’s Girls and the Sofranko Advisory Group and appreciates the opportunity to bring their stories to life,” said Megan Baker, founder & CEO of Baker Public Relations. “We are inspired by Gwen’s Girls mission and their work with young women and girls as they fight for social justice. And the Sofranko Advisory Group boasts decades of experience in the hospitality arena, and it is exciting to witness their expertise.”
