Berns Communications Group (BCG), a specialty public relations firm focused on the intersection of retail, fashion and commerce, announced it has expanded its expertise with the launch of a new retail consumer practice led by Alissa Heumann.

Heumann, who has more than a decade of retail and fashion public relations experience, was most recently Director of Public Relations at Lord & Taylor and formerly held communications roles at Lividini & Co. and Victoria Beckham. In her new position as Senior Vice President and Director of Consumer Marketing, Heumann will lead a team focused on fashion and influencer relations.

The news follows BCG’s launch of the Retail Influencer Network this spring. The network, which was created to meet newly defined consumer demands, is a collection of well-known, expert voices that retailers, brands and media have come to rely on to better understand the industry, consumer behavior and which commerce strategies are most effective. The prestigious group of thought leaders works to close the knowledge gap between traditional retail and fashion and technology innovations.

“Alissa brings deep retail and fashion expertise that strongly complements our skills and relationships, and her experience will be extremely valuable as we seek to connect the industry on an even deeper level and provide new services that best serve our clients,” said Stacy Berns, President of BCG. “We are thrilled to have Alissa join our team and look forward to expanding our capabilities across the fashion and retail sectors.”

“BCG has a reputation as a celebrated leader in merging the worlds of commerce and technology with retail and fashion, and I’m excited to bring my own experience into the fold,” said Heumann. “I’ve long admired the work BCG has done, and I’m incredibly confident that we’ll continue to build on the firm’s success through our new consumer retail practice.”
