Blue Cross Appoints The PHA Group to Help Prioritize Pet Welfare

by | Aug 19, 2019

Top independent London PR agency, The PHA Group, announced that it has been appointed by one of the UK’s leading pet charities, Blue Cross, to help raise their profile across new audiences and improve brand recognition through an exciting programme of campaign activity.

Pets enrich our lives in so many ways, yet sadly some owner/pet pairings don’t work out as planned—leading to animals being given up for rehoming or abandoned. Blue Cross can help pet owners and potential pet owners make the right choices to live in harmony with the pets in their lives and ensure every pet has a healthy life in a happy home.

The PHA Group will be responsible for helping to raise awareness of Blue Cross’ extensive range of Pet Advice resources.

Working alongside the Blue Cross marketing and communications team, The PHA Group will deliver the nationally focused campaigns, consisting of six ‘peak’ periods of consumer activity. The campaign will speak directly to the charity’s key demographics, as well as aiming to reach new audiences of existing and potential pet owners across the UK—educating and informing the public about responsible pet ownership, whilst bringing Blue Cross to the forefront of public consciousness by positioning as a leading authority on all issues related to pet welfare.

Blue Cross is a charity that has been helping sick, injured and homeless pets since 1897. They support thousands of pets in need every month, by providing veterinary care, expert behaviour help, and finding them loving happy homes, as well as offering advice and education for current or future owners and pet bereavement support.

The PHA Group was appointed by Blue Cross following a competitive pitch process in which they were unanimously chosen as the agency to drive this campaign forward.

Wendy Hill, Group Head of Marketing and Communications, at Blue Cross, said: “At Blue Cross we care for around 40,000 pets every year, but we know it’s not enough – there are many, many more out there who still desperately need our help and we must be there for them.

Brand awareness through a programme of national campaign activity will be essential in helping us achieve this, which is why we are delighted to be welcoming The PHA Group on board. The PHA Group’screative campaign ideas, combined with their extensive experience and knowledge of the Third Sector and consumer PR, convinced us that they would be the right agency for the job. Our vision is that every pet will enjoy a healthy life in a happy home, and we won’t rest until we achieve this.”

Shelley Frosdick, Divisional Managing Director at The PHA Group, commented: “Blue Cross has an incredible heritage – changing the lives of pets through their invaluable rehoming, veterinary, bereavement and education services for the last 120 years.

“Pet welfare is a huge issue and it’s so important that both current and potential owners across the UK have a one-stop-shop of advice and information for pets, as well as ensuring that their furry friend is the right choice for them. We’re delighted to be working alongside theBlue Crossteam to execute the campaigns which will see the PHA Group deliver a series of experiential and digital led campaigns that talk to pet lovers across the UK.”
