by | Jul 16, 2018

RF|Binder, a New York-based communications consultancy, announced that David Schraeder has joined as Executive Managing Director and leader of the agency’s Corporate and Financial Services practice.

Schraeder’s focus will be to build on RF|Binder’s extensive record of work with clients in asset management, wealth management, fintech, insurance and banking. In developing client strategies and programs, he will draw on RF|Binder’s capabilities in data and analytics, social media strategies, branding and creative services, as well as media relations. A seasoned crisis communications manager, Schraeder’s role includes advising clients managing through events that pose threats to their reputations and brands.

“David joins us at a time when corporate leadership in financial services and other sectors face significant strategic challenges from disruptive technology and increased scrutiny of their business practices and impact on society,” said Amy Binder, founder and CEO of RF|Binder. “A thoughtful, experienced advisor, David is a great addition to a senior team who is engaged daily in helping clients navigate changes in their competitive landscape, shifting public opinion and an increasingly fragmented, politicized media environment.”

Most recently, David was a Senior Vice President at Grayling where he was responsible for leading key accounts and acting as the crisis management lead for Grayling in the US. His industry experience includes financial services, pharmaceutical, technology, and professional services. He has led the launch of financial products including ETFs and indices, and numerous corporate announcements around mergers and acquisitions.

David has advised senior executives on reputation management and led responses for numerous issues and crisis situations including data breach, cyber security, executive transitions, patient deaths and other sensitive situations. His experience further enhances the agency’s capability to counsel clients on challenging situations and protect their corporate reputation.

“Joining RF|Binder is a great opportunity to bring clients our thoughtful, analytical approach to addressing their challenges and achieving their communications objectives, supported by an impressive set of research and creative capabilities,” said David. “With a combination of deeply experienced advisors and an integrated communications approach, we’re well positioned to deliver clients programs that help them tackle the fast-changing, multi-dimensional nature of today’s communications environment.”

David brings strong client-side perspective having spent three years as Head of US Corporate Communications for World Gold Council, the market development organization for the global gold market. While there he led US media relations for the firm while also working closely with the marketing team at State Street Global Advisors on PR, Marketing and Advertising efforts for SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), the world’s largest physically backed gold exchange traded fund.

Prior to joining World Gold Council he was a Vice President at MSLGroup’s corporate practice and a core member of the agency’s Issues and Crisis team. Before beginning his career in public relations, David was Series 7 and 63 licensed financial representative.

David joins a leadership team that brings decades of deep experience in the financial services industry.
