Chloe Steerman, an agency professional and Account Director at full-service communications firm Grasslands: A Journalism-Minded Agency, has been honored by Marijuana Venture magazine as a 40-under-40 rising star in America’s first-of-its-kind cannabis industry.
Since 2014, trade publication Marijuana Venture has been an important b2b voice within the cannabis industry—with the goal of helping business owners operate efficiently, profitably and in full compliance with state regulations. The publication’s fifth annual 40 Under 40 list highlights the work and influence of young entrepreneurs and leaders in cannabis.
Ms. Steerman, a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh, got her start in public relations working for various east coast agencies with clients in the automotive, education and financial services industries. Ms. Steerman’s introduction to the legal cannabis space came through a move from Philadelphia to Denver in 2016, just two years into the implementation of adult use marijuana sales in Colorado. With a diverse skill set and passion for the plant she began working exclusively with cannabis clients including Wana Brands, Good Chemistry and other startups that would later go on to become multi-state operators.
“Grasslands is built on a foundation of accountability and strategy, and Chloe is truly a pillar of our agency operations,” said Grasslands Founder & CEO Ricardo Baca, who hired Ms. Steerman as a Publicist in March 2018 and promoted her to Account Director later that year. “Chloe’s contributions have been highly impactful throughout the Grasslands ecosystem, and her leadership is as consistent as it is compassionate.”
Ms. Steerman’s drive to dispel the many false narratives around cannabis and her penchant for proactive, strategic thinking make her a natural fit at Grasslands, which works with businesses and executives to build brands and establish thought leaders in cannabis, hemp and other highly regulated industries.
“I’m doing the best work of my life right now in part because this job is my calling,” said Ms. Steerman. “I’ve always been drawn to agencies–that was inevitable. But to be able to work in a dynamic and growing agency that specializes in cannabis communications, working with best-in-class clients who inspire and challenge me daily, is exactly where I’m supposed to be right now.”
The full 40 Under 40 list will be published in Marijuana Venture’s June 2020 issue. For more information, visit www.marijuanaventure.com.
