by | Dec 6, 2019

To fuel long-term growth across its offices in New York, Chicago, Raleigh and Basel, Switzerland, G&S Business Communications announced the appointment of Steve Halsey to be the firm’s first-ever Chief Growth Officer (CGO).

As CGO, Halsey has overall responsibility for the sales, marketing, innovation and service development functions of G&S as well as supporting corporate strategy. He is charged with creating strong internal alignment across all agency disciplines with an eye toward innovation and growth and infusing sustained value-thinking into agency culture.

“We have been on a solid trajectory, achieving 26 percent growth since 2016, but in this age of unprecedented business change, you can’t stand still,” said President and CEO Luke Lambert. “Continued success requires speed, innovation and agility, and that’s exactly what Steve brings to the table. He is known for his forward-looking, strategic mindset and has a proven record of success fueling innovation, growth and diversification.”

Halsey has held leadership roles at G&S for over 21 years, most recently as Managing Director of the firm’s Business Consulting Practice. With experience building and managing brands for Fortune 500 clients, Halsey’s expertise includes brand positioning and strategy, new product launches, reputation, business transformation and innovation. He spearheaded the development of the agency’s proprietary messaging and brand strategy services, IPower℠ and COMMPASS℠, and helped lead the creation and build-out of the agency’s digital, social and insights teams. Halsey is also actively engaged in the communications industry and was recently elected to the Operating Committee of Page Society’s Page Up organization.

“Our mission is very clear: to inspire action resulting in business growth for our clients,” said Halsey. “We achieve this by telling epic stories and creating compelling experiences that move our clients’ businesses—and industries—forward. We pride ourselves on being a true partner, problem solver and value creator for the businesses we serve. That’s why so many innovative companies choose G&S as their agency.”

In support of the new CGO role, G&S has named two senior agency leaders to be part of Halsey’s core growth team:

Katy Hendricks has been named Vice President of Growth and Corporate Communications. Hendricks has spent 12 years on the account side, managing award-winning campaigns for clients in the corporate, home, health, lifestyle and technology industries. In her new role, she will be responsible for keeping the agency’s brand top of mind through innovative sales and marketing communications initiatives.

Chris Martin has been named Vice President of Creative and Brand Experience. Under Martin’s leadership, the G&S creative team has grown to 21 full-time members and expanded its range of service offerings and capabilities. In his new role, he will be responsible for the visual elements of the G&S brand, as well as infusing creativity, fresh thinking and experience-based marketing throughout the agency.
