Mitsui Fudosan Co. Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, announced together with Halekulani Corporation the fall 2019 opening of Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, to be situated on the site of Waikiki Parc Hotel. The property, which has been a staple of the Waikiki skyline for three decades, will undergo a multi-million-dollar transformation. J Public Relations has been retained to represent the property.
“We are delighted to add this new and unique brand and hospitality experience to our evolving Halekulani portfolio.” said Peter Shaindlin, Halekulani Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer.
“Halepuna, which translates to ‘house of welcoming waters’ is inspired by the legacy of our famed Halekulani,” said Halepuna Waikiki General Manager Julie Arigo. “Our goal is to offer a refined retreat in the heart of Waikiki where Hawaiian traditions, warm, engaging service and fine design enrich every guest room, dining experience and amenity.”
Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, designed by New York City based firm, Champalimaud, will encompass 288 guest rooms and suites, a three–meal restaurant, dramatic eighth floor pool deck and bar, fitness center and hospitality lounge. The lobby will feature natural and refined elements inspired by Halekulani’s subtle, light and airy interiors, with custom light fixtures, teak finishes, vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and artwork in partnership with the Honolulu Museum of Art celebrating the relaxed sensibility of the Hawaiian Islands. The hotel’s restaurant, open to guests and locals alike, will be located adjacent to the lobby, complete with an open-air kitchen, outdoor terrace encircled with lush tropical landscaping and a separate chocolate kitchen—to craft signature delicacies. The eatery will serve a refined breakfast buffet and offer à la carte lunch and dinner daily.
The focal point of the property will be a private eighth-floor haven exclusively for hotel guests. The completely remodeled, raised wood pool deck will feature an infinity lap-style swimming pool, Jacuzzi, poolside bar and luxury cabanas with ocean views. The eighth floor will also house an expansive fitness center and hospitality lounge connecting to an open-air lana’i garden.
Situated on a serene side street along one of the world’s most popular beaches and directly across from Halekulani, Hawaii’s most venerated, iconic hotel, Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani will appeal to those visitors to Oahu who are looking to be in the heart of it all. With abundant visitor numbers more direct flights to Honolulu from the mainland, and a resurgence of new hotels, 2019 will be the year to visit Waikiki.
