McGrath/Power, a San Jose-based independent integrated communications agency, has opened an office in Atlanta to serve the area’s strong technology and B2B market sectors. The new office, which joins McGrath/Power’s Silicon Valley and Portland, Oregon outposts, will be run by Partner and Senior Vice President Kathryn Walker.

“We have had our eye on the Atlanta technology market for quite some time and are very pleased to extend our presence into the Southeast,” said Jonathan Bloom, co-founder and CEO of McGrath/Power. “Kate’s return to Atlanta not only helps expand our footprint, but her previous in-market work will allow us to hit the ground running, both in terms of regional knowledge and new business development opportunities.”

Walker has an understanding of the Atlanta market, having previously served as global public relations manager at both Internet Security Systems (acquired by IBM in 2006), and Borland Software Corporation (currently Micro Focus) in the city prior to returning to McGrath/Power in 2005. Internet Security Systems was one of Atlanta’s first major technology success stories.

“I am excited to return to Atlanta’s thriving technology scene,” said Walker. “While we were initially attracted to Atlanta because of its growing tech sector and the opportunity to leverage our more than three decades of tech experience in the region, we also have our eye on a variety of other industries that are thriving here.”

Walker first joined McGrath/Power in 2001 and rejoined the firm in 2005 as a partner and SVP to lead the agency’s East Coast operations, which she will continue to do from the Atlanta location. Walker has been instrumental in delivering exceptional client service across the Agency’s programs and has played a key role in new business development efforts.
