Michelle Mekky to be Featured Speaker at Morton’s International Women’s Day Luncheon on March 8 in Chicago

Michelle Mekky, president and founder of Mekky Media Relations Inc., is the featured International Women’s Day speaker at a luncheon at Morton’s The Steakhouse on Friday, March 8. Mekky is a media and PR veteran who founded her company two and half years ago and has led it through a period of tremendous growth and many high-profile successes, including recently receiving a Bronze 2018 Stevie Award for Women in Business in the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year category.

The luncheon is a celebration of women’s achievements in light of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated worldwide each year on March 8. Mekky will talk about challenges that have come her way and how she has turned them into gifts, plus key learnings from her journey and advice to help other women pursue their dreams. The luncheon, to be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Morton’s, 65 E. Wacker Pl. in Chicago, features three courses of Morton’s famed cuisine, perfectly paired with wines from the restaurant’s award-winning wine list. Mekky also will participate in an International Women’s Day panel discussion sponsored by Chicago’s Exceptional Women’s Network and MALA. The discussion takes place also on March 8, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at WeWork, 111 W. Illinois St. in Chicago. Mekky has more than 20 years of experience as a broadcast journalist and PR executive. She was a senior producer and news writer for Fox-TV in Chicago, and a news writer at NBC and reporter for WISC-TV in Madison prior to that. After her years in journalism, she transitioned into a career in public relations and marketing, working at top agencies in Chicago. She launched her own company, Mekky Media Relations Inc., in 2016. The agency has delivered impressive results for a diverse roster of clients in Chicago and beyond, including Abt Electronics, Susan G. Komen Chicago, Francesca’s Restaurant Group and Wealth Management Group. These are just a few of the major brands that have signed on to work with Mekky Media, which offers targeted services in PR strategy and media relations, media training, event promotion, social media strategy and influencer outreach.

In addition to winning a Stevie Award in 2018, Mekky was selected to be part of the Forbes Agency Council, a prestigious organization for owners and executives of PR, media strategy, creative and advertising agencies.
