SYRACUSE, N.Y.—May 24, 2023—The Central New York Sales & Marketing Executives (CNYSME) has honored Stephanie Crockett, president and chief executive officer of leading marketing communications agency Mower, as the 46th recipient of the highly coveted Crystal Ball Award due to her steadfast services to the Syracuse community.
The Crystal Ball Award is a prestigious recognition reserved for those who visibly impact the progress and prosperity of Central New York, demonstrate superior professionalism, and foster excellence in the industry. Crockett received the award at the CNYSME’s Annual Crystal Ball and Sales and Marketing Excellence Awards ceremony on May 18 at the Marriott Downtown Syracuse.
“Being on this stage accepting this award is surreal,” said Crockett during her thank you speech. “My first Crystal Ball Award event was 21 years ago. To be in the same company as the dozens of other incredible individuals who have received this award is an indescribable honor.”
Crockett assumed the position of CEO from Eric Mower, who transitioned to Executive Chairman, in January 2023, cementing the agency as a female-led and employee-owned organization. Crockett is responsible for growth, planning, culture and leading all external activities of the agency. She also leads the Client Leadership team at Mower as well as the agency’s Energy & Sustainability practice, having spearheaded complex marketing communications for key clients including National Grid, Turning Stone Resort Casino, FirstEnergy, Exelon, Avangrid, LG, Bausch & Lomb, Crouse Health, Community Bank and the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority.
“If there is a continuing thread over 46 years of CNYSME’s Crystal Ball Awards, it is the recognition of one, exceptional individual each year who strives to make our Central New York Community a far better place to live and to work. Quite appropriately, this year the recognition goes to Stephanie Crockett in light of her notable professional accomplishment and her engaged civic leadership,” said Eric Mower, founder and executive chairman of Mower, who also received the prestigious Crystal Ball Award in 1984.
He continued, “Stephanie is inspirational. She aspires to excellence in all she does and, in doing so, she engenders ambition in others. That is evidenced by the tangible, beneficial impact she has every day with her clients and co-workers as well as numerous area organizations including United Way of Central New York, Landmark Theatre and CenterState CEO among others. I salute CNYSME on their well-considered selection and I salute Stephanie Crockett on her well-deserved recognition.”
A lifelong Central New York resident, Crockett puts equal efforts into giving back to the community where she lives and works. She is Immediate Past Chair of the United Way of Central New York Board of Directors and is a Board Member for CenterState CEO. Stephanie is also a founding member of Women United and is a member of the global Women Presidents Organization, a network of women focused on providing opportunities for women to learn, discuss important issues, understand challenges facing women and explore ways to have collective impact.
