Visit Valencia has appointed Newlink—an internationally recognized consulting firm based in Miami with offices throughout Latin America and Europe, as its first-ever strategic communications agency of record. The agency will lead efforts to position Valencia in the North American market as an attractive tourism destination with a broad offering that melds gastronomy, culture, history, sports, architecture, and music. Newlink will be responsible for numerous marketing and communications efforts including media relations, press trips, trade relations, digital campaigns, partnerships, events and more.
“Visit Valencia has tremendous potential to become the next it destination of Europe in the United States, and we are thrilled to be their extended team in the country to make it happen,” said Teresa Villarreal, Senior Vice President at Newlink. “Now that travel is exponentially increasing once again, our team is ready to hit the ground running to inspire travel to Spain’s third-largest city.”
A port city located on the east coast of Spain where the Turia River meets the Mediterranean Sea, Valencia offers travelers many experiences and adventures with the Iberian Mountain range and 75+ miles of coastal beaches as the backdrop. The city is famously known for its mouthwatering gastronomy such as the Paellas Valencianas, as well as its renowned restaurants, among which were recently recognized with eight Michelin stars including a green star for Ricard Camarena Restaurant’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. As one of the seven Christian holy cities of the world, Valencia is home to one of the most admired relics of the Catholic Church, the Holy Chalice, or Holy Grail—and this year, Valencia celebrates the Jubilee Year of the Holy Chalice. Other attractions include three UNESCO designations, impressive museums and opera houses, breathtaking gardens and outdoor activities such as 100 miles of bike paths to take in the stunning sights, major sport events, a lively nightlife, and much more. The city also has a longstanding design legacy and has been named the World Design Capital for 2022.
“We’re excited to announce our partnership with Newlink, an agency with an impressive track-record for successfully representing tourism destinations around the globe,” said Maximo Caletrio, promotions manager for Canada and the U.S. “After a thorough RFP process, we are confident in Newlink’s ability to bring Valencia to the forefront, especially now as everyone is eager to travel. We look forward to welcoming visitors once again in a safe and exciting environment.”
Newlink’s current travel and tourism roster include clients such as Acapulco Tourism Board, Chile Tourism Board, the Riviera Nayarit CVB, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, La Colección Resorts, and battleface travel insurance. In the past, the agency has represented LATAM Airlines Group, Cancun, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, and Expedia Group.
