One Hundred Black Men of New York (OHBM), a non-profit organization focused on the intellectual development of youth and the economic empowerment of the Black community, honored Mower’s Chairman and CEO Eric Mower at its gala fundraiser held at New York’s Jazz @ Lincoln Center on March 31. Mower was among 10 honorees including esteemed supporters of the non-profit like Brian Flores, Senior Defensive Assistant/Linebackers Coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, James Brown, host of The NFL Today and a CBS News Special Correspondent, Seth Waugh, CEO of PGA of America, and Rudy Wynter, NY President of National Grid, which is also a longstanding client of Mower’s advertising, marketing and PR agency.
Mower’s eponymous agency, which he started in 1968— just five years after OHBM was established—has had a significant pro bono partnership with the non-profit for two years, sparked by the agency’s desire to support racial justice.
Timed with OHBM’s 42nd annual benefit gala yesterday, which included appearances by New York Mayor Eric Adams and U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Mower agency worked with the non-profit to debut a new brand campaign, Open Every Door. The campaign pays homage to the rich history of the organization and carries into the future its legacy of transformation – striving to ensure that the doors of opportunity in education, business, and health care are open to all who choose to walk through them. The creative was developed in coordination with Black Cub Productions, and Mower’s media department secured large out of home media donations to support campaign awareness, including placements in Times Square, taxi tops, bus shelters and other billboards throughout the city.
