by | Mar 20, 2018

Ruder Finn announced that Silicon Valley communications veteran Ryan Donovan has joined the firm as EVP, Managing Director for the San Francisco office. He reports to CEO Kathy Bloomgarden.

The move expedites the scaling of Ruder Finn’s West Coast operations which have more than doubled in revenue growth over the past year, with a series of new B2B and B2C technology clients, multiple award wins for start-up and multinational clients, and operating as a global center of excellence for technology within the Ruder Finn network. The appointment also strengthens a technology leadership team that includes Global Technology Practice Chair Robin Kim, Asia Regional Technology Head Shruti Das, and senior tech experts across the U.S., Asia and Europe.

“Ryan’s strong track record of both delivering measurable results for clients and building robust teams will bring value to our growing San Francisco office,” says Bloomgarden. “He will greatly enhance our established reputation as global advisors for some of the world’s most renowned tech companies, as well as help us to continue to grow our business in this space.”

Donovan’s 30 years of communications expertise includes senior in-house positions at Visa, HP, Sitecore and SanDisk, as well as leadership roles at agencies such as Ketchum and Text 100. In addition to his track record for client service and building teams, he has counselled CEOs on some of the most critical issues facing the technology sector today, and has launched some of the tech sector’s biggest innovations in sectors like mobile payments while also leading communications for several significant M&A transactions and serving as the primary spokesperson during some of the most significant corporate crises facing the industry.

“Long an industry leader, Ruder Finn’s success is based on its consistent ability to help organizations of all sizes transform the way they do business, go to market, drive critical credibility, and engage the people that matter most,” said Donovan. “I am thrilled to join the firm at such an exciting stage for the company and the opportunity to communicate our expertise in the technology industry.”
