Strategic Heights Media has been named the public relations agency of record for writer, producer and director, Leigh Davenport. Through her production company, Woke & Whimsical Productions, Davenport develops content dedicated to telling stories that explore the unique experiences of women throughout the diaspora. Strategic Heights Media will manage overall publicity efforts and media strategy for Ms. Davenport.
Davenport is the creator of Starz’ new critically-acclaimed original series, “Run The World,” the story of a group of Black women – vibrant, fiercely loyal best friends – who work, live and play in Harlem as they strive for world domination. At its core, it’s an unapologetically female show about enviable friendship and not only surviving – but thriving together. The series, which has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has been pegged the “Black Sex and the City,” and is loosely based on Davenport’s life as an ambitious twenty-something African American woman living in Harlem, New York. The success of the first season has proved itself to be one of this summer’s hottest shows and an undeniable love letter to Harlem’s rich culture!
Davenport’s other credits include the screenplay for the upcoming Netflix film “The Perfect Find,” starring Gabrielle Union, as well as the screenplay for Lifetime’s #1 film, “Wendy Williams: The Movie.” Davenport is the former Editorial Director of HelloBeautiful.com, where she led the site to record-breaking traffic as the leading site for Black women. Over the last decade, Davenport has worked in entertainment media in various capacities including writing for The Black Girls Rock! Awards and in unscripted production at BET, TV ONE and VH1.
Davenport is a native of Chicago, Illinois and a proud graduate of Spelman College.
