Subject Matter announced an expansion of its senior leadership, with Hastie Afkhami joining the firm as Senior Vice President -Digital.
Afkhami was most recently Senior Vice President, Head of Digital at Podesta Group and brings to Subject Matter deep experience helping clients elevate their messages to achieve their goals.
“Subject Matter closed 2017 on a strong growth path, and is poised for further expansion in 2018. We could not be more pleased that Hastie Afkhami will build upon her experience gleaned at Podesta, and before that, Ogilvy, to lead our digital team and enhance our capabilities in strategy, advertising, analytics, as well content creation and distribution,” said Subject Matter CEO John Buckley.
Afkhami joins Subject Matter after two years as Digital Lead for Podesta Group, serving many of that firm’s largest clients as well as significantly expanding its Digital practice area. At Podesta Group, she was able to offer the firm’s government relations clients a consumer-campaign approach to digital, breaking through traditional boundaries and offering them customized solutions.
Originally a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, and then Emerson Human Capital Consulting, Afkhami was recruited to the global communications firm Ogilvy, rising over her four and a half years there to become Senior Vice President, Global Strategy Team, at Social@Ogilvy.
“I’m excited to join Subject Matter and have the opportunity to work with a team so proficient in content creation, and so creative in its delivery,” said Afkhami. “The firm’s approach to integrated communications campaigns, with its emphasis on strategy and message powered by analytics, provides such great results for a wide array of clients. Having spent the past two years at Podesta Group, working closely with a strong government relations team, and from my time at Ogilvy, working with great creatives, I know that I will quickly feel at home helping to direct the integrated and creative digital advocacy campaigns Subject Matter runs on behalf of its clients.”
