The Castle Group, a Boston-based public relations and event management firm, announced that Sean Hennessey has joined the firm as senior vice president, identifying, developing and securing strategic opportunities for clients across platforms and industries. His extensive newsroom experience will continue to expand and deepen Castle’s media relationships across the Northeast and beyond. He will also be an integral part of the firm’s work in crisis communications and issues management.
Prior to joining Castle, Hennessey was vice president and director of media at a Boston PR firm, where he worked with clients in the life sciences, higher education, professional services, commercial real estate and nonprofit sectors. Hennessey also gained considerable experience in the higher education field as associate director of University Communications at Boston College. Prior to his role at Boston College, Hennessey was an Emmy-award winning television news reporter and anchor for more than two decades. He spent much of his career in the major media markets of New York City and Boston, as well as in Providence.

Hennessey has a BA and MBA from Boston College. He lives in Boston with his wife and two children and is an active volunteer; he has been elected twice to the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council; serves on the Nazzaro Community Center Council in the North End, and coaches youth basketball and soccer. He is a two-time Ironman and 13-time Boston Marathon finisher.
