The PHA Group Join £3 Billion Compensation Campaign Against British Airways by Your Lawyers

by | Nov 14, 2019

Consumer action law firm, Your Lawyers, has re-appointed leading PR agency The PHA Group for support on a consumer awareness brief following last year’s British Airways data breaches.

The PHA Group’s Entrepreneurs & Business division has been tasked with growing awareness of the British Airways data breach scandal and building the media profile of Your Lawyers and its Director, Aman Johal.

Following a successful campaign in 2018 to encourage compensation claims from victims affected by the Volkswagen ‘Dieselgate’ scandal, Your Lawyers has returned to The PHA Group for a second consecutive year.

The campaign has already had a tangible impact on the case. A combination of consumer press office and strategic communications tactics, including case studies and infographics, highlighted the injustice to consumers of a short claim window of just 17 weeks.

Based on average compensation settlements of £6,000 for each of the approximate half-a-million claimants across the two data breaches, Your Lawyers has estimated the airline could face a possible pay out of £3billion. This would follow a record £183m fine from The Information Commissioner’s Office in a landmark case in the post-GDPR era.

Commenting on the appointment, Johal says: “It’s great to see The PHA Group is as passionate as us about championing the rights of consumers. The team has delivered positive results in our fight to prevent British Airways denying victims the compensation they’re owed, including 21 pieces of coverage in key national, regional and trade titles.  We’re confident we will continue to attract the media interest the scandal deserves and expose the airline’s underhand tactics to short-change loyal customers.”

James Clench, Head of the Entrepreneurs and Business division at The PHA Group comments:“We’re pleased to welcome Aman and Your Lawyers back for further PR support following our successful campaign last year in the Volkswagen ‘Dieselgate’ scandal. It’s testament to the hard work the team are putting in and we’re excited to be involved in such high-profile legal cases. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Your Lawyers to bolster its profile and bring media attention to such an important consumer rights case.”
