WASHINGTON, DC , January 28, 2026 — Trident – a leading corporate and strategic communications, stakeholder management, and crisis firm — announced today three new hires: 

  • Gil Connolly: Returning to Trident from the Vinyl Institute, the trade association where Gil ran press and media relations for the last 2.5 years, Gil will focus on strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, thought leadership, and crisis and litigation communications for clients.  
  • Davey Roberts: Davey joins Trident after working for over 4 years at Reevemark and will specialize in providing strategic communications counsel for all manner of complex situations that clients face, including litigation, investigations, transactions, and crises, in addition to creating and implementing communications, brand, and reputation building programs for companies and NGOs and nonprofits. 
  • Amber Clay: Amber has been named an Associate at Trident after previously serving as an intern in both 2024 and 2025 upon her graduation from the University of Missouri-Columbia Journalism School. Amber helps start-ups to global brands across sectors as well as with NGOs and nonprofits on corporate and strategic communications, media relations, and crisis and litigation communications.

Davey Roberts is a Director at Trident GMG, where he provides trusted strategic communications counsel on a variety of complex situations, including litigation, investigations, transactions, and crises, as well as advises on impactful brand building and reputation management initiatives. He has extensive experience working with C-suite executives and communications teams to develop and implement influential stakeholder engagement strategies and has helped clients successfully achieve multi-million-dollar legal verdicts, close billion-dollar transactions, and deliver significant shareholder value.

Before Trident, Davey was a Senior Associate at Reevemark, a strategic communications firm based in New York City. There, he helped lead communications and media strategies for complex, high–stakes matters, including private party litigation, proxy fights on behalf of major investors, regulatory investigations, intellectual property and false advertising litigation, and public relations efforts to support IPOs on the New York Stock Exchange. He has also advised clients on numerous confidential matters involving executive transitions, cybersecurity incidents, and many more sensitive situations.

Davey graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in Public and International Affairs and a minor in Entrepreneurship. He is also a lifelong competitive tennis player and captained the Princeton Men’s Varsity Tennis team.

Gil Connolly is a Director at Trident GMG, with a background in executing strategic communications campaigns, stakeholder engagement, developing thought leadership campaigns, and crisis and litigation communications. Gil previously worked at Trident as a Senior Account Manager and returned to the firm in 2026. 

Immediately prior to rejoining Trident, Gil was the Press Secretary at the Vinyl Institute, handling media relations for the trade association representing over 350,000 employees of companies involved with this industry across the country. Gil handled rapid response, reporter outreach, and executive thought leadership during his time as a spokesperson for the vinyl industry. Gil also served as Press & Digital Assistant for the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works under Chairman Tom Carper, where he worked closely with the legislative team to coordinate communications for the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act of 2021. He was also a field organizer for the Delaware Democratic Party during the 2018 midterm elections. 

Gil graduated from Bates College with a B.A. in Rhetoric with concentrations in Film and Pre-Modern History. At Bates, Gil was a founding member of the Bates Film Festival and has served on the Advisory Board for subsequent editions of the festival. Gil was a member of the Bates football team and volunteered with Rebuilding Together L/A and the Special Olympics of Maine. Outside of work, Gil enjoys rooting for Arsenal FC, seeing as many films in theaters as he can, and getting back to his home state of Delaware to enjoy the best beaches in the country.

Amber Clay is an Associate at Trident GMG. She works with start-ups to global brands across multiple sectors as well as with NGOs and nonprofits, supporting client teams through corporate and strategic communications, industry research, media relations, and crisis and litigation communications.

Amber graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in Strategic Communications and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During her time at Mizzou, she worked with the Mizzou Athletics Department as a strategic communications intern. Amber also helped Mizzou athletes secure Name, Image, and Likeness deals through her work with the Public Relations Student Society of America. For her senior capstone project, she served as an account manager for FOX Sports University, a semester-long program that immerses students in real-world business initiatives.  She also held leadership positions with the National Association of Black Journalists and the Association of Women in Sports Media. In addition, Amber previously interned at Trident in summer 2023 and fall 2025.

Outside of the office, Amber actively serves the community through the Washington, D.C. chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  A native of Atlanta, Georgia, who now lives in Washington, D.C., Amber is also pursuing an M.A. degree in Public Relations from Georgetown University.
