University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center Appoints Marketing Strategist in Residence

RENO, Nev. (January 9, 2024)The University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center named veteran marketer and investor relations advisor Ira M. Gostin as its first marketing strategist in residence.

In this new role, Gostin will help the center forge new partnerships and greater connectivity with the community, create community entrepreneurship programs and advise member companies on marketing and strategy.  

“We are pleased to welcome Ira to our community and are thrilled for the opportunity to offer his mentorship and expertise as a resource to our members,” Innevation Center Business Manager Ania Calvillo-Mason said. “Collaborative partnerships such as this are an integral part of furthering the Center’s role as a center of gravity in the entrepreneurial community. We greatly look forward to the positive impact and growth this partnership is sure to bring.”

Gostin worked closely with the Innevation Center as a co-producer of the inaugural Reno Startup Week held this past September, and said he’s excited to continue the innovative work the Innevation Center specializes in.

“It’s an amazing facility that offers so many opportunities for founders, entrepreneurs and students,” Gostin said. “This new role will help bring the community to the Innevation Center and the Innevation Center to our community and provide me an opportunity to mentor up-and-coming companies.”

Gostin is the chief strategist at G8 Strategies, a Reno-based investor relations and strategic communications company. He has a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Gostin recently completed an executive education program at the Stanford University College of Engineering in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. He is also a former adjunct professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, Reynolds School of Journalism.

Gostin and his wife, Erin, a nurse at Northern Nevada Medical Center, live in Reno with their two rescue dogs.
