Vanessa Cartwright Promoted to COO of Astound Commerce North America

by | Mar 11, 2021

March 1, 2021 (San Francisco, CA) — Astound Commerce announced today that its Chief Client Success Officer, Vanessa Cartwright, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, North America, effective immediately.

In this newly created role, Cartwright will oversee all financial and business planning, client services, business development, operations, people management, and the company culture.

“Vanessa has consistently demonstrated her unshakable commitment to our company and the quality of the work we do, holding herself to the highest standards as a leader, mentor, and teammate,” said Igor Gorin, CEO of Astound Commerce North America.

Astound Commerce Global CEO Michael Kahn added: “This is great news for Astound and for our North American operating company, and it’s so very well-earned and deserved. Vanessa will continue to take our company to the next level!”

In 2018, Cartwright played an instrumental role in driving the successful integration between Fluid and Astound Commerce. Prior to the merger, Cartwright served as Managing Partner and CEO of Fluid, which she joined in 2012.

Before joining Fluid, prior leadership roles included serving as SVP of digital agency Blast Radius, part of WPP, along with holding senior positions at agencies including RMG Connect/J. Walter Thompson in Canada and Rapp Collins in London.

“I have great confidence in Astound’s future success and I appreciate the trust that’s been placed in me by the company’s founders and leadership team,” said Cartwright. “Last year drove transformation quickly and Astound had an even greater opportunity to design commerce solutions for brands that are tied to revenue growth. This, in addition to our recent acquisition of digital performance marketing specialist MarketForce, puts us in an even better position to grow our clients’ businesses, and it makes it even more exciting for me to play a role in that growth.”

Cartwright added: “I also hope to continue working with environmental causes by supporting clients who are making great strides in sustainable commerce. Through our work with visionary brands like The North Face and Rag & Bone, we are able to help offset the toll retail takes on the environment through different business models, including recommerce.”

Cartwright is one of the most prominent female leaders in the industry, and has been featured in multiple publications including Adweek, RetailTouchpoints and MarTech Series. She was also recognized in Campaign’s Digital 40 Over 40 list in 2018. Her reputation has been built on being a passionate leader and mentor, creating a strong corporate culture, growing client revenue and driving organic and new business. In recent years Cartwright has helped increase revenue by up to 15% annually, attracting clients including Carter’s, TOMS, FLOR, Calvin Klein and WW.
