VidCon, the world’s largest celebration of online video and digital creators, announced the hire of Sarah Tortoreti as vice president of marketing. Tortoreti joins VidCon from Nickelodeon where she served as director of marketing and brand strategy.
In the newly-created role at VidCon, Tortoreti will be responsible for the development and management of all aspects of the VidCon brand, overseeing its global marketing strategies across social media and editorial content, as well as internal and external communications. Additionally, she will advise on Featured Creators and top industry executives at VidCon’s slate of live events across the United States, Australia, the U.K. and upcoming markets.
She reports to VidCon’s general manager, Jim Louderback, and will be based in Viacom’s office in Hollywood, CA. Tortoreti comes to VidCon from within the Viacom family—the company acquired VidCon in early 2018.
“As a seasoned marketing and live events leader, Sarah brings a wealth of experience to VidCon as we expand the brand’s offerings around the world,” said Louderback. “Her background shaping real-world experiences for the digital-first generation will be an essential part of accelerating our growth as we gear up to celebrate our 10th Anniversary in 2019.”
“During my time at Nickelodeon, I saw firsthand the power of VidCon as the only place uniting the world’s top social platforms, talent, fans, brands, and industry executives. With the support of our Viacom family, I am looking forward to expanding how VidCon authentically engages with its audience year-round through content and live events, while welcoming new brand, marketing and entertainment partners,” added Tortoreti.
Prior to VidCon, Tortoreti oversaw the marketing, media, and creative strategy and execution of campaigns to drive awareness and ticket sales for the Nickelodeon Experience group, aimed at bringing the Nickelodeon brand, characters, and IP to life through real world experiences such as Nickelodeon SlimeFest and SpongeBob SquarePants the Broadway Musical. Prior to Nickelodeon, Tortoreti led media and promotional strategy for VH1’s various hit, tentpole programming. Before Viacom, she held positions at NBCUniversal and Allied Marketing.
Tortoreti joins VidCon’s expanding executive ranks, which include Natalie Schaefer‘s promotion to director of creator partnerships, Julia Maes to executive producer of VidCon US, Wendi Ekblade to director of security and Celine Sargent‘s to executive producer of VidCon London and Australia.
VidCon will celebrate the first ever VidCon London at ExCeL London from February 14 – February 17th, 2019, followed by the tenth annual VidCon US 2019, set for July 10-13, 2019 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
In 2018 alone, VidCon welcomed more than 90,000 fans, creators, brands and industry leaders across events in North America, Australia and Europe. In addition to featuring the world’s biggest digital creators, VidCon hosts keynotes, fireside chats and panels with c-level and senior executives from every major online video, social and networking platform including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Twitch, Snap, Bytedance and more.
