World Airways, the Miami-based airline that will relaunch in 2018, has selected Zapwater Communications as its U.S. public relations agency of record.
Working alongside the carrier’s marketing team and World’s CEO, Ed Wegel, Zapwater will develop and execute programming to support World Airways’ 2018 relaunch as the first United States-based, low-cost, long haul airline. Initial funding for certification and aircraft acquisitions for World is being provided by 777 Partners. Discussions are underway with Boeing for an initial order of up to ten 787-aircraft. Scheduled operations for the airline will begin with routes from the U.S. to Asia and Latin America.
World has a rich and storied history dating back to 1948. It was once the world’s largest independent charter airline, and served the U.S. military and other notable clients.
“After interviewing numerous agencies, we’re confident that Zapwater understands our vision for the brand’s relaunch; they are the creative spirit we’ve been looking for,” said Freddie Laker, Chief Marketing Officer at World Airways Corp. “In addition, David Zapata’s [Zapwater President] excitement and knowledge for the airline industry is unmatched. The agency will help us tell our story with unexpected programming not only in the air, but on the ground too.”
As part of Zapwater’s scope of work, the agency will be supporting all World Airways launch activities including media relations, influencer activations, events and partnerships. The agency will also be responsible for driving creative PR and social media initiatives that will help position the carrier for a successful launch and beyond.
“As a self-proclaimed airline brat, I am beyond excited to be part of the team that is relaunching World Airways,” commented Zapwater’s President, David Zapata. ” We’re honored to work as an extension of the World Airways team and help share their vision for the airline and its brand.”
