Zapwater to Begin Working with Visit Baja California Sur

by | Jan 22, 2020

Zapwater Communications announced it has been named U.S. Agency of Record for Baja California Sur, adding to the agency’s notable roster of travel and destination clients.

Specifically, Zapwater will place particular emphases on the areas of Loreto, Mulegé and Comundú, some of the state’s under-recognized regions, to pursue a destination-wide campaign. While the agency’s main focus will be western US states and Canada, Zapwater’s team will also be responsible for national media relations. Zapwater won a competitive RFP and is partnering with Studio Jungla on the contract.

Situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California, the state of Baja California Sur encompasses the southern half of the Baja Peninsula. The climate is perfect for fishing, boating, surfing and diving, making the destination an adventurer and thrill-seeker’s dream. Rich in history, Loreto, the first capital of the Californias (Mexico and U.S.), is considered to be the first settlement in Baja California Sur and the state’s original capital. The state features breahttaking scenery from the windswept ocean beaches on the west to the tranquil, torquiose waters on the east. In between are canyons, desertscapes and lush oases ripe for exploration. Known for its extraordinary marine life, whale watching is one of the area’s most well known tourist attractions along with sportfishing, kayaking and bird watching.

Zapwater, leaders in destination marketing communications, and Studio Jungla, experts in the travel trade industry, are looking to expand the partnership beyond Baja Sur. The two agencies blend consumer and industry outreach efforts to help emerging destinations, such as Baja California Sur, increase share of voice and build a sustainable tourism foundation. In partnership with Studio Jungla, Zapwater has created a strategic alliance to offer PR and marketing services to the destination and to pursue more business in Mexico and Latin America.

“Our team is thrilled to start working with Visit Baja California Sur and make some noise about Mexico’s best kept secret,” says David Zapata, CEO and founder of Zapwater. “With Studio Jungla as our partner, I’m confident that we will surpass our goals while continuing to learn and grow as an agency from their team.”

Zapwater’s scope of work includes media and influencer relations, while Studio Jungla is responsible for travel industry relations for Baja California Sur.

Zapwater currently represents the following international destination clients: Grenada Tourism Authority, National Tourism Office of Serbia, The Board of Tourism of La Paz, Tourisme Montréal, Travel Manitoba, Visit Finland and Visit Maldives.
