In the fast-moving world of public relations, it’s critical to keep up with ever-shifting trends and tech developments to stay ahead. There’s no better way to do so than by reading and (ideally) subscribing to the leading daily PR trades. These sites individually keep you abreast of important news and insider tips, and collectively offer you an easy-to-read overview of practically everything you need to know as a practitioner in real time.
Each site or (if you subscribe, which is free in most cases) daily news alert provides useful and actionable tips and insights spreading across the entire industry, written by knowledgeable staff as well as PR thought leaders. They are designed to be skimmable so you can home in on the topics of interest to you and quickly scan the rest. It’s an ideal way to start your morning, whether at home, as a commuter, or with morning coffee when you get to the office.
There are several to choose from, and while it’s possible to subscribe to every one and scan them in full in about a half an hour, we’ve picked out what we think are the five top dailies that you shouldn’t miss:
1. Bulldog Reporter (Agility PR Solutions)
This longtime daily covers the gamut of industries and issues that matter to practitioners, with a cornerstone focus on AI trends and developments, along with other PR tech. There’s also plenty here for those seeking tips and high-level insights on earned media, measurement and analysis, and media monitoring, along with industry personnel alerts and other resourceful news bits.
This site also hosts one of the best known PR awards programs, honoring top campaigns, agencies, and individuals. Learn more and subscribe here.
2. PR Daily (Ragan’s)
This leading publication offers a wide range of news, articles and insights for PR professionals on important topics like media relations, storytelling, crisis communications, social media and much more. More a news portal than a daily publication, this site still offers daily news and updates on topics of interest to modern communicators such as agency news, digital comms, crisis management, and internal comms. It has a strong focus on evolving aspects of PR (digital, internal, innovation) and is a good complement to the other more tactical resources in this round-up.
A subscription offers access to a large case studies archive, as well as the availability of on-demand video training sessions and online seminars. See more here.
5. Spin Sucks
This daily blog, newsletter and professional community founded by industry thought leader and agency owner Gini Dietrich rose quickly to iconic popularity soon after its launch in 2006. Dietrich is the copyright owner of the PESO model, a leading strategic PR approach, and Spin Sucks emphasizes ethical PR and integrated digital marketing, along with educational resources and community engagement.
The site focuses on modern PR, content marketing, and reputation management. Take a look here.
6. Sword & the Script
This blog and website, written by veteran PR/marketing pro Frank Strong, focuses on PR, marketing, and social media, with a particular focus on B2B communications.
