Reddit Roundup: What are PR Pros Talking About on the r/publicrelations Subreddit?
By Osama Saeed | November 4, 2025

There’s clearly a world of insight in PR thought leadership and professional development content in our blogs and industry news sites, but some of the most captivating conversations about PR are happening on Reddit, the social media discussion site that’s becoming an important forum in the age of AEO. Here you can uncover the key issues, concerns and questions that in-the-trenches PR practitioners have—and often a variety of compelling tips and suggestions in response.

The r/publicrelations subreddit is a busy community, with plenty of the complaints and rudeness you find all over social media behind the guise of digital anonymity, but perhaps more so than its social peers, Reddit houses a wealth of genuine career-minded queries and civil, knowledgeable responses, Digging into the site, we found a thread that should be of interest to PR pros old and young:

How are you using AI in your PR role?

The OP clarified that they were just curious to hear how others are using it at work—stressing how they keep hearing that if they don’t learn to use it right, other agencies will pass them by.

The responses had a smattering of commentary about how AI has been over-hyped and pointing out notes shortfalls (AI can’t write like a human, requires comprehensive human oversight and fact-checking, etc.), but most responders are putting forth some helpful ideas and suggestions. Among them:

  • Summarizing articles in daily media monitoring efforts
  • For first-draft content like press releases, social captions, and pitch emails—and this commenter notes that they always rewrite the raw copy to match tone and voice
  • Reviewing emails and letters, specifically to ensure that the information is clear, the tone is warm, and that the statements relay a sense of authority.reviewing proposals, asking for strengths and weaknesses, and where area can be improved
  • Summarizing lengthy scientific abstracts into lay terms to add insight into how the data/results can be amplified
  • Getting overviews of morning headlines and trends reports, finding story angles, interpreting data, and summarizing websites (i.e., “describe this brand to me”).
  • Determining public perception of clients, executives and competitors—this commenter notes that it’s also valuable to then look at what sources AI is citing to produce that insight.
  • Explaining why a journalist might care about seeing a particular pitch in their inbox, providing the most compelling points to consider for a pitch.
  • Drafting email flags to clients about important insights from media monitoring, condensed into the key points clients need to know about each article flagged and why it matters.

Common opinions throughout the thread include the fact that AI is definitely becoming a big part of the PR toolkit, and is useful in determining strategy, basic writing, and, when linked to an accurate media database, quite resourceful for targeting and creating outreach copy for media and influencers.
