Ottawa – Ottawa-based MediaMiser announces today the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has issued a Canadian patent covering MediaMiser Ltd. technology.
The patent, number 2635420, covers MediaMiser’s solution and methodologies for monitoring and analyzing traditional and social media. The patent also covers methodologies for parsing and analyzing quotes and automation of article sentiment or tone.
“This is a big validation for our investment in innovation,” says Brett Serjeantson, CEO of MediaMiser. “Being awarded a patent not only sends a message to our customers and partners that MediaMiser is innovative, but also that we are constantly adding value to the company.”
Specifically, the patent reads: “A web-based media analysis system, consisting of automated media analysis and document management tools, which processes news articles by parsing the news contents or documents and assigning, relating, and extracting information from the news contents for media analysis and relationally storing them in at least one database. The system further comprises a toning engine for toning articles accurately, based on words, attributes and categories of the article, and optionally based on the author of the article, if applicable.”
