The rise of nomadic PR campaigns: Why travel-based content is winning attention in saturated markets
By Veljko Petrović | August 14, 2025

People’s attention is nowadays quite fragmented. Audiences rarely have the patience to watch boring videos that are an hour long. Sometimes, even five minutes can be boring. This is why brands are rethinking how they’re going to reach new people.

Nomadic public relations campaigns are one solution to making an audience engaged and interested in your product. This strategy blends PR with the spirit of adventure. Nomadic PR includes taking your brand on the road.

It revolves around traveling in rented or purchased RVs or vans, and creating content while physically moving through different locations. The changes of scenery, the adventurous lifestyle, and dynamic content will make your audience more engaged than ever.

Nomadic PR campaigns explained

Nomadic PR campaigns are mobile, story-driven marketing efforts that bring a brand’s message directly to audiences through travel. So instead of recording the marketing content in your bedroom or in a studio, you’ll hit the road.

Not all people have cars or vans, and some locations lack good car-rental businesses. However, you can hire RVs in Seattle with Indie Campers, for example. An even more effective nomadic PR campaign would be using vehicles that have ads painted on them.

RVs can basically serve as a mobile HQ, content studio, and rolling billboard in one. Furthermore, they can also serve as homes, as they often come with complete beds, kitchens, storage, and power access.

Rental services can help startups, influencers, and solopreneurs start nomadic PR campaigns without the high upfront costs of purchasing vehicles or fleets. Compared to other marketing efforts, these campaigns combine experiential marketing with visual storytelling, generating buzz through authenticity and movement.

Also, it’s not necessary to rent the vehicles 24/7. You can start campaigns in situations like a nationwide product launch, a local awareness push, or a content-rich brand activation, and then commit for a few weeks or months.

One of the downsides of nomadic PR campaigns is that not all niches and industries are going to find this effective. For example, there are ways in which you can make a gardening nomadic PR campaign work, but people would rather expect cozier content from the influencer’s home.

Why is travel-based content important?

Travel-based content is winning attention because it taps into what audiences crave: authenticity, novelty, visual inspiration, and effort. While the traditional PR campaigns are standard, and there are too many companies that are already conducting them, it’s valuable to do something different.

Travel-focused strategies cut through the noise by providing the audience with insights into real-world experiences. Nomadic PR campaigns blend scenic visuals, human stories, and landscapes, along with the local culture.

We’ll go into more details about the different advantages.

Visually rich and dynamic

Traveling almost always offers visually engaging landscapes and regions. While you don’t have to travel to Italy to find a beautiful place to record your videos, there are many natural wonders in all countries across the world.

From urban streets to scenic coastlines, you can make your content more scroll-stopping and shareable. If people don’t share your content because of the ad itself, they’ll do so because of the beautiful visuals.

Each new location adds visual variety, helping brands avoid repetitive posts and stale creative. For example, you can record one type of video in Germany and another one in France, and both of them will be engaging and rich in their own way.

Great for storytelling

The movement itself is enough to create a storytelling arc. You can always create videos on the good and bad situations you’ve had on the road. Furthermore, you can create content that revolves specifically around the location you’re recording in.

Traveling is also perfect for serialized content, such as daily travel updates, behind-the-scenes videos, interviews with locals, and restaurant or bar recommendation videos. Some people prefer to make a structured series of videos, while others make spontaneous, emotional videos in one place and then more promotional pieces of content in another.

Authenticity and human connection

With the millions of AI-generated videos and blogs, creating high-quality content makes businesses stand out. Nothing feels more authentic than traveling and recording personal experiences.

Nomadic campaigns strip away polished studio setups and show the team in motion, experiencing life as it is. This openness helps build trust and attracts audiences. Furthermore, everyone loves traveling and visiting new places.

People will find this interesting and live vicariously through your journey if your content is immersive and engaging enough.

How to use it in oversaturated markets

Markets like tech, finance, and even insurance are overloaded with digital ads and content. Travel-based PR can help you distinguish yourself in these industries. Everyone in the mentioned industries uses the same format over.

Even their travel content is the same, like recording expensive locations. Instead, taking a more humble and unique approach will get a lot more empathy and attraction.

Regardless of nomadic PR, all companies that aren’t giants and are in saturated industries should find as many unique channels for reaching new customers.

Standing out in boring categories

Let’s be honest, there are many industries that are boring. There aren’t many interesting aspects of a software engineer working in an office or an HR professional having meetings. However, imagine if a remote company were to travel across multiple countries, meet with its employees, and record their unique stories in different locations.

Other examples would be a dental business traveling to underserved areas and providing cheap or free services. Or a software development employee visiting various businesses that are using their services.

When writing about these examples, I already know that I’d want to watch an ad like that. Not only would these videos help stand out in boring categories, but you’ll also show the audience the company’s culture and enhance the PR campaign with meaning and emotion.

Geo-targeted visibility and local SEO advantage

As your campaign progresses through different regions and countries, you’ll gain exposure in each of them. Not just in-person, but digitally. Although not the same as nomadic marketing, I follow one influencer called Justus Reid

He’s from the US, lived in Serbia for a while, and now he has bought a house in Croatia and is recording the renovation process. He gained a bunch of followers from Serbia, Croatia, and the rest of the Balkans.

You can enhance your campaign’s potential by tagging social posts by location and creating landing pages/blogs for each stop. It will allow the audience to find you through location tags on social media and local SEO.

Partnership potential

Traveling can open endless opportunities for partnerships with local and international businesses. You can partner with local and national businesses, creators, nonprofits, influencers, and collaborate in numerous ways.

It allows you to cross-promote with other influencers and content creators, but it can also open the doors for more serious opportunities like co-hosting events. These partnerships add credibility and open new audience channels.

Depending on your business, you can attract a new audience, customers, and clients. If you’re a decision-maker in a software development company, it can also attract top talent. If we go back to the example of a remote company visiting its employees, other top talents from the country will find out about your business and potentially reach out to you.

Nomadic PR campaigns could be the key to boosting your brand

If you’re competing against large names in the industry, doing something different and authentic can go a long way. People would rather pick products from companies that have shown unique content, rather than those that have had generic videos for years.

With the rise of AI-generated videos that feel relatable and personalized, creating content that speaks to the customer can be quite effective. Thanks to social media algorithms, everyone can basically go viral with the right piece of content.

Nomadic PR campaigns can be costly, but they can pay off. Whether you’re a startup looking for visibility or an established brand needing to reinvent your presence, consider renting an RV and making it your mobile PR machine.
