2020 PR Industry Growth 3.1%, Down from 5.3% in 2019

by | Sep 27, 2021

The U.S. PR industry grew by just 3.1%, according to the annual survey released by Gould+Partners, the merger and management consulting firm specializing in the PR field.

Based on stats from 221 North American PR agencies, as expected in a Covid year, this was the lowest growth year since we started tracking the growth rates in 2013. Our three categories, less than $3 Mill, $3 to $10 Mill, Over $10 Mill to $25 Mill all showed decreased growth. The Over $25 Mill group was the only category showing growth, 4.4%.

The second part of the study focused on industry growth in the 10 regions of our focus and average net revenues for each of the regions.

The survey is the ninth annual poll focused on Net Revenue Growth by Gould+Partners, which has been conducting other industry wide surveys for 25+ years, including the Best Practices Benchmarking Report and the Billing/Utilization Report, as well as other targeted surveys, as our five surveys/reports on the impact of Covid19.
